Later paintings focused on primitive art and simplified the image. 19 15- 1920, the painting style once turned to realism. 1930 is obviously inclined to surrealism. During World War II, Picasso painted the oil painting "guernica" to protest the indiscriminate bombing of the northern Spanish town of guernica by German and Italian fascists.
