The School of Music of Shanxi University is the only specialized college in Shanxi that cultivates senior music talents. It is also the only music school in my country that is organized as a college within a comprehensive university. Its predecessor was Shanxi Art Institute, founded in 1958. It was merged into Shanxi University in 1962. It went through two development stages: the Music Major of the Art Department and the Music Department, and was expanded into the Conservatory of Music in 1996.
