The School of Music of Southwest University consists of four undergraduate majors: the Department of Music Education, the Department of Music, the Department of Music Performance, and the Department of Dance, including five teaching and research sections of vocal music, piano, theory, instrumental music, and dance. . At the same time, we are recruiting doctoral students in four directions: music psychology, ancient Chinese music (education) history, religious music theory research, and ethnic music teaching and research, as well as music aesthetic psychology, Chinese traditional music, music history and literature, composition technology theory, and music education theory. Master students in 6 directions: teaching, music performance theory and practice.

The college currently has five artistic practice platforms including the Chongqing Youth Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Orchestra, National Music Choir, Folk Orchestra and Dance Troupe. Since 2005, the college symphony orchestra and folk orchestra have been performing in the Ministry of Education’s “Elegant Arts on Campus” program for consecutive years. They have been awarded the “National Patriotic Classic Art Education Demonstration Base in Colleges and Universities” by the Ministry of Education, the music performance “National Characteristic Major”, and the music and Dance is “Chongqing Key (First-level) Discipline”.
