What does spring sound like?

Is it the singing of birds outside the window, the sound of gurgling water in the creek

Or is it the spring breeze blowing through the green trees, accompanied by the rustling sound

...

The sounds of nature are everywhere

The music of nature

(Excerpt) Author: Feng Zikai

The Spring Equinox is here. Dad's study moved upstairs.

This is my father’s habit: every spring, when birds begin to sing on the willow trees in the garden, my father’s study will be moved upstairs and merged with the bedroom. Until spring came to an end and summer came, the weather got hotter and the birds on the willow branches got tired of singing, so he moved downstairs again. Dad loves to listen to birds singing. They sing really beautifully. Especially on spring mornings, we feel very happy when we are awakened from our dreams by their singing. Because their songs are all pleasant. One spring morning, my father said to me: "Do you know what the sound of birds sounds like?" I said: "It sounds like singing." He said: "Not quite right. Songs are sometimes solemn, sometimes sad, sometimes majestic, but not necessarily Pleasant. Their voices are always unpleasant, so it's not entirely right to compare it to singing. I think birds are animals that can laugh, and if it sounds like singing, it's like singing. They are all game songs, or sweet songs."

Today, Sunday morning, I was awakened by another kind of music. It seemed like a melodious singing voice, accompanied by crisp musical instruments. Listen carefully, the orioles on the willow branches are particularly noisy today. This is probably because the morning light is particularly bright today; but maybe it is because there is another kind of accompaniment of tinkling-ding-dong-dong here today. But what exactly is the sound of ding-ding-dong-dong? I quickly got up and followed the sound to find it. I found the floor window of my father's room and saw an iron ring as big as a hat hanging under the eaves of the window. There were many small bell-shaped copper pieces hanging around the iron ring. The spring morning breeze blew, and the copper pieces collided with each other. , making a crisp ding-ding-dong-dong, which naturally became the accompaniment of the warbler's song.

This is Dad's new equipment this year, called "Iron Horse". I just hung it up last night and I heard it for the first time this morning. During breakfast, I asked my father: "What is the use of the iron horse?" Dad said: "Pragmatically speaking, it is used to tell the wind. When the wind blows, and the iron horse makes a thumping sound, we know it is windy."< /p>

I said: "What else can we talk about?" Dad said: "Also, in terms of fun, this is a kind of comfort for the ears. We must know that the wind is blowing in the sky, and if we don't talk about fun, When it comes to practicality, we just need to buy a barometer and just look at it. Or we just need to install a windmill on the house and see it turning, and we will know that the wind is blowing in addition to 'knowing' the facts. A kind of sentiment, which is not only practical, but also interesting, so I came up with the "iron horse" to make a clear sound when reporting the wind, so that the iron horse is like a bird. Sound is also a kind of "natural music". There is a lot of natural music in our living environment, whether it is good or bad, it has a deeper impact on our emotions than the shape and color. It's not easy to block, and can reach people's ears anytime and anywhere."

At this time, the sounds of people rushing to the morning market came from outside the wall to our dining table: "Selling - mustard - vegetables!" - Cake - Oil - Fried - Hinoki! "Fire - Meat - Zongzi!" The tones are different and the timbre is different. Each sound gives people a unique feeling, and together they create a unique sound. Kind of the morning fun in my house. When I hear this sound, I automatically feel that it is morning. I think these are also natural music, but there is not as much music as the sound of warblers or iron horses. When I said this, my mother said something.

My mother said: "They are very accurate when they sell. I often use their shouts instead of the self-ringing bell. I heard 'boiled tofu in oil' and it was time to cook dinner. I heard 'lard' "Fried Rice Noodles" I shouted, "It's time to sleep." And the shouting was nice and not annoying. What annoyed me the most was the sound of the salt seller in Hangzhou: "Salt——" is spinning like clockwork, getting faster and faster. It’s so tight that it seems to have broken in the end. The night newspapers in Shanghai are also annoying. It’s like shouting for fire, which makes people jump.”

Dad continued: “You treat the workers’ cries as music. Listen, it's so 'that'!"

Mother got angry and raised her eyes and said, "You said it yourself! What about 'natural music, natural music'? That'?"

Dad immediately smiled and replied: "I didn't say that! You don't have to be angry. It's not just you." : "I am convinced that the sounds in our environment have a great impact on our emotions and lives. For example, this morning, I listened to the ensemble of Iron Horse and Oriole, and I felt a sense of peace, happiness and vitality. You will feel youthful and happy, and you will be more energetic in doing things throughout the day. You can also eat an extra bowl of breakfast. ”

I feel the same way about these words. He was so excited that he said unexpectedly: "I am going to add a harrier to the kite today so that it can broadcast the sound of peace in the air."

Dad agreed very much.

But my mother said: "Be careful of cutting off your fingers!"

After breakfast, I went to visit Hua Ming and asked him to fly a kite with me in the afternoon. I also asked him to come and help me make a harrier harp in the morning. He readily agreed and accompanied me out. First, he went to a bamboo shop to buy two bamboo strips about three feet long. He took them back to my house and started working in the side room. We peeled off the green bamboo strips and used a knife to scrape them as thin as drawing paper. Then bend the other bamboo strip into a bow shape, use the piece of green bamboo strip as a bowstring, and tie it into a bow. Hua Ming held the back of the bow and waved it hard in the air. The green strips made a "buzzing" sound, and the Harrier Qin was successful.

In the afternoon, the wind was gentle and the sun was warm. Hua Ming came at half past twelve, took the kite and the harrier, and waited for me to wash up. I washed my face hastily, hid the harmonica and the new song sheet my sister sent from middle school yesterday in my pocket, and hurried out with him. We walked to the high mountain behind the Tutu Temple and flew the kite. When it is higher, take down some kite line, tie the kite to the kite line a few feet away from the kite, and then let out as much line as possible. The Harrier harp immediately started ringing, buzzing and singing loudly, spreading its melodious and majestic sound in the clear sky, as if everything in the world was singing with it!

Tie the root of the harrier line to a broken monument, and we don’t need to take care of it. The two of us can sit leisurely leaning on the foot of the monument. I took out the harmonica and started practicing the song "Kite" that my sister sent me. This is a song in the second volume of "Enlightened Music Textbook" that she recently learned in middle school. She translated the staff into harmonica notation and sent it to me. I continued to play according to the score, and the music was really nice. Its light and elegant fun is especially suitable for the current situation. The sound of the harmonica contrasts with the sound of the kite harp, just like the sound of orioles heard in the morning contrasts with the sound of iron horses. I also feel an atmosphere of peace, happiness and youthful vitality.

But when I played the last sentence, I paused. Because this sentence contains the word "fa" which is a semitone higher. I blew all the twenty-three holes of the harmonica and could not play this sound. What to do? I went back and asked my dad to practice again. Now let's change to a more sophisticated and light ditty to embellish this spring scene.
