Kevin Cheng was born in the United States, but attended Huaren Primary School in Hong Kong and Huaren College in Hong Kong, and went to Canada for secondary school and the United States for university degree. At the age of 16, he took part in the rookie singing competition, but after entering the 3 th place, he quit and continued his studies. After returning to Hong Kong, he signed a contract with Polaroid (now Universal) to become its singer in 1993, and immediately joined the music scene, officially starting his career as a singer. Because of disagreement with the manager Dai Sicong, he was exiled to Taiwan Province by a record company, where he made records and made plays, but his career has been ups and downs. Later, Jiang Yulang, the traitor in the play "Two Prides in a Family", was appreciated by TVB, and was invited to return to Hong Kong, and signed a contract with TVB as a manager artist, starting from a supporting role, and it was not until "Jade Love Song" that he became the leading actor. Since 26, when the drama "Lovers under the awning" was broadcast, the career soared, and it was then hit by the storm of indenture. The outsiders thought that this incident would make Kevin Cheng's career fall to the bottom. However, every cloud has a silver lining and Kevin Cheng were supported by wireless power instead, becoming masters, and their workload was overwhelming. Since then, their career has climbed to the peak and become a celebrity. Their experiences and abilities have also attracted the attention of the famous musician Liu Jiachang, who accepted them as apprentices and compiled them for Kevin Cheng.

Kevin Cheng also has the nickname of "wireless baby".
