What are the violin teaching materials?

In the teaching of primary violin group classes, the use of teaching materials is particularly important. Because group classes involve the whole, from the perspective of technical learning, art group classes in off-campus education are also basic education with a popular nature, and they also need to pay attention to the comprehensiveness, popularization and interest of teaching. Therefore, choosing practical and interesting teaching materials is a key. As an off-campus art education teacher, the author tries to use several different teaching materials, and analyzes and compares their characteristics to draw on the strengths of each teaching material, so that he can continuously improve teaching methods, enrich teaching content, and improve teaching quality.

Among the several teaching materials that the author has used, there are mainly overseas textbooks "Suzuki Tutorial", "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial", "Hormann", and domestic ones such as "100 Days for Beginners to Learn the Violin" and "Basic Violin Tutorial" "These teaching materials have their own characteristics. Fully understanding the characteristics of these teaching materials is very beneficial for teachers to teach.

(1) "Suzuki Tutorial"

As a well-known violin teaching system, "Suzuki Tutorial" is considered by many piano students as a window into the violin palace for the first time. The door is warm and welcoming. In Suzuki's hometown, Japan, large-scale concerts are held regularly. Players of different ages gather together to play the music in the textbook. The scene is quite touching. Tutorials are still very popular in Southeast Asia, and the author has also found many advantages in using them.

1. For the teaching of basic skills, the tutorial prominently requires the learning of ear training. Ear training is also the key to learning music and instrumental music. At the same time, it is required to repeatedly emphasize good pronunciation practice in listening to audio and video materials and playing. This is a good habit for learning. It can continuously train students' hearing, the changes of chords, the contrast of strong and weak rhythms, the alternation of long and short beats, and the breathing relaxation during the progression of music, etc., all of which allow children to improve their performance in their own performance. Experience music appreciation again and again.

2. From the perspective of teaching content, the tutorial uses a large number of short, beautiful and familiar classical music pieces as teaching materials. For example, "Little Star", "Memories of the Past", Bach's "Minuet", etc. Students are familiar with these works and can easily arouse their enthusiasm for learning. Students can quickly master the melody and play it. It can achieve better results whether playing solo or in unison, which is one of the advantages that is more suitable for group lessons.

3. Equipped with perfect piano accompaniment. No matter how short the piece is, it has perfect piano accompaniment, which plays a very important role in cultivating children's sense of music and collaboration ability, allowing children to play along with good accompaniment from the beginning. When they successfully complete their homework, it feels like they have performed a short performance, which is full of a sense of accomplishment and pride and can also stimulate their desire to perform. This is very valuable for children learning music. Of course, the author also discovered some shortcomings of "Suzuki Tutorial" during use. There are only a large number of music pieces, without necessary and targeted etudes to support and strengthen training, and the arrangement of difficulty levels is leapfrogging, which seems unreasonable in some places.

1. In addition to ear training, there is a lack of systematic basic skills training on left and right-hand playing skills. The textbook marks all the fingerings one by one, which creates obstacles for beginners in memorizing the staff and fingering positions. They tend to rely on the marked fingerings instead of paying attention to memorizing the notes, solfeggios, and the positions of the notes on the piano. Pointing positions will bring difficulties to their future in-depth learning, such as fingering after changing handles, fingering of temporary rising and falling numbers, and fingering usage. Secondly, the practice of bowing techniques is not systematic enough. Even though relatively difficult bowing techniques are used in the first volume, it is impossible for beginners to directly learn such difficult bowing techniques.

2. The teaching content is not complete enough. First, there is no systematic learning of scales and arpeggios. The learning of scales and arpeggios plays a decisive role in the cultivation of intonation. Pitch is the basic performance of a string instrument. Without a good grasp of pitch, it is impossible to play a good musical melody. Second, without corresponding etude materials, the teaching of some rhythms or knowledge points is not detailed enough and lacks a strengthening process.

(2) "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial"

Another Japanese violin tutorial "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial" is also very popular in Hong Kong, South Korea and other Southeast Asian regions. This is a very good beginner's tutorial, which has great advantages over "Suzuki Tutorial".

1. Have more detailed basic skills training. It uses a step-by-step teaching model. The fingering techniques of the left hand and the bowing techniques of the right hand are taught in a relatively systematic manner, making it suitable for beginners to learn one by one. This tutorial provides tips and specifications for good movements of holding the piano, holding the bow, and combining various parts. The correct illustrations of each part are drawn one by one on each page of the textbook. The fingering training of the left hand is also illustrated through illustrations, and daily finger exercises are emphasized, including systematic intensive training on hand shape, finger rise and fall, and the separation and closing of the fingers.

2. It has a relatively complete teaching content, including scales and etudes. At the same time, it pays more attention to the training of rhythm and the cultivation of musical feeling, as well as the training of music melody singing and ear training. Tutorials are emphasized. The requirements in the tutorial, "Listen well and identify intervals," etc., all serve as reminders and standards.

The teaching material uses rich content and pleasant melodies, and pays attention to collaboration. Single-part songs are all accompanied by accompaniment, and a large number of music are in dual-part form. It is a good auxiliary teaching material for group classes and rehearsal performances.

3. Reasonable use of the "Kaisa" textbook. This is a traditional compulsory course for violin learning. Through the study of "Opening the Cork", students will further develop and improve their fingering and bowing skills. In group teaching, the long and boring etude teaching makes it difficult for beginners to master it. It is impossible for teachers to have a lot of time and energy to provide guidance, and it will be difficult to learn. In "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial", the editor provides beginners with various skills to learn by condensing "Kaibo". Beginners are required to practice a short part and select suitable music to review the techniques. Strengthen to improve learning effects and increase learning fun. This textbook has not been published in China, which the author feels is a pity. In fact, compared to "Suzuki Tutorial", "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial" is more reasonable and practical. Its shortcomings are:

1. In terms of basic skill training, due to the many changes in the left hand fingering of the violin, from the perspective of modern teaching and the physiological conditions of the fingers, when the left hand is placed on the fingerboard At this time, the most natural finger relationship is that the middle finger and ring finger are close to each other, rather than the index finger and middle finger touching each other. In this case, in modern teaching, especially in group classes, we often learn the easier hand shapes first, in order from easy to difficult. However, this tutorial starts from a hand shape with one and two fingers together and the remaining fingers separated. It will be difficult to do, and beginners' hand shapes are prone to instability.

2. In terms of teaching content, the teaching material is relatively complete, but the etudes in the initial study are too thin. It is usually practiced through the repetition of several measures, which can be boring.

(3) "H?mann"

At present, "H?mann" is still a widely used textbook among domestic textbooks. As an old textbook, it seems outdated in some places, but With solid musicality practice, it also requires the cooperation of other technical teaching materials such as Wolfart and Kaisei. The advantages of the "H?rmann" tutorial as an enlightenment tutorial are:

1. In terms of the content of the teaching material, music teaching is the main focus. Each piece of music is played in two parts, from simple scales to large-scale music, with two parts, reflecting the interaction between teachers and students. Beautiful melodies and rich harmonies will arouse their love for music, and at the same time cultivate their collaborative skills. This kind of ability development and musical experience cannot be achieved in one-to-one small lessons.

2. The tutorial first teaches the four strings of the violin separately, and then starts with no flat in each key signature, from one sharp to three sharps, and from one to three flats, so that students can systematically master each key. Understand the function and significance of the ups and downs of the tune. For teachers, it is easier to intersperse basic music theory knowledge with explanations.

Because the "Hormann" tutorial is relatively old, there are also some aspects that are not suitable for modern teaching.

1. The textbook still lacks a certain amount of etudes as basic teaching content. The entire tutorial is mainly about music, and some traditional basic etudes are not included. This will cause students to have difficulty in mastering some skills during learning. Difficulties in learning and not being systematic enough in learning. The music selections in the textbook seem a bit unfamiliar to the children and lack childlike interest.

2. Like the "Shinozaki Violin Tutorial", the sequence of learning the relationship between the fingers in the "H?rmann" tutorial starts from the most difficult hand shape in which all the fingers are separated. It is quite difficult for beginner students with weaker fingers, because the fingers are not easy to separate, and they are unstable and prone to deformation.

(4) "100 Days to Learn the Violin for Beginners"

The author currently recommends to students "100 Days to Learn the Violin for Beginners" by Mr. Zhang Shixiang, a domestic violin educator, and Qian Liang "Elementary Tutorial on Violin" edited by. "100 Days to Learn the Violin for Beginners" is a combination of the previous four books: "Enlightenment", "Fundamentals", "Emergence", and "Prospects". It is widely used by violin teaching colleagues in children's palaces and youth activity centers. Its advantage lies in its strong comprehensiveness, emphasis on step-by-step process, and strict requirements on every detail. From left and right hand techniques to musical rhythm, everything is taught one by one, making it very suitable for beginners.

1. There is a systematic basic skills training part, that is, there is a complete teaching of right-hand bowing and more reasonable learning of various finger positions of the left hand. Bowing technique is the basis of violin teaching. Bowing skills are the key to violin playing. Good bow section distribution and bowing. In the textbook, there are extremely useful special studies on the learning of staggered bowing, learning of continuous bows, and the practice of changing strings. In terms of left hand fingering teaching, in the first few steps of learning, you mainly learn the relationship between the two and three fingers together. This is a more comfortable and natural state for the fingers. Then learn the more difficult hand shapes and increase the difficulty one by one. . Through this more reasonable and natural learning sequence, this set of teaching materials gradually develops finger functions and lays the foundation for establishing good intonation.

2. Comprehensive teaching content. In "100 Days", the content mainly consists of three parts: scales, etudes and tunes, all arranged separately for teachers to choose.

(1) Scales are a very important part of mastering tonality. The textbook arranges for beginners to learn major and minor keys at the same time. Through this comparative learning method, students can naturally understand the difference between major and minor keys.

(2) Etudes can help students master playing techniques faster and better. Each lesson contains highly targeted learning content, ranging from easy to difficult. From the initial note recognition and fingering relationship of each string to various bowing, rhythm, and sound shapes, it is covered. The newly published "100 Days" also added basic teaching for the third position to prepare for further learning in the future.

(3) After that, the textbook also arranges a large part of music, through which the skills learned can be used and consolidated. The music comprehensively embodies the learning of intonation, rhythm, and bowing techniques. Small pieces for beginners can enable students to experience fun in difficult learning.

The shortcomings of the "100 Days" teaching material are: the songs in the teaching material are a bit difficult, some of the songs are not familiar to the children, and they lack a certain degree of interest. Meanwhile, early versions of 100 Days had audiovisual material on it, but it was canceled at one point. Recently, it has been published in the new edition "100 Days", which makes this set of teaching materials more complete.

(5) "Basic Tutorial on Violin"

Another textbook used by the author is "Basic Tutorial on Violin" compiled by Qian Liang, and I have also gained a lot from using it. Its content is more complete, practical, and has a long life cycle, making it more suitable for group class teaching. It covers most of the content in "100 Days", and also combines the following two octaves with four ascending and descending scales, as well as the important etude teaching materials such as "Wolfalter" and "Kaiser" that are compulsory for violin learning, and comprehensively compulsory courses. The music, including works by Ridinger and Seitz, is included, and there are teaching instructions and content tips for parents to use during their own tutoring. The entire textbook can reach the Level 3 examination level of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, eliminating the embarrassment of duplication and waste caused by purchasing a large number of teaching materials. In this textbook, Mr. Qian Liang himself also mentioned the shortcomings of the textbook. Due to various reasons, it was a big pity that there were no audio-visual materials to be published. Therefore, as a teacher, teachers should use other audio-visual materials to make teaching more efficient. More comprehensive and complete.
