The orchestral piece "Miao Village Carnival." won the first prize in the International Radio Orchestra Competition in 1992. The two works were premiered at the 1993 Chinese New Year Concert and the 1994 Chinese New Year Concert held at the Beijing Concert Hall by the China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, and were published on laser discs and released worldwide.

The large-scale dance drama "Border Town" won the highest government award for China's stage arts in 1995, the Wenhua Music Creation Single Award at the 6th "Wenhua Award", and the first prize for composition at the 5th China Drama Festival in 1997. The award was unanimously recognized by experts from the Ministry of Culture as another milestone in Chinese folk dance dramas. The music was especially highly praised: it is the best dance drama music in China in recent years, and it is the most appropriate combination of national tones and modern composition techniques.
