The orchestral piece "Miao Village Carnival." won the first prize in the International Radio Orchestra Competition in 1992. The large-scale dance drama "Border Town" won the highest government award for China's stage arts in 1995, the Wenhua Music Creation Single Award at the 6th "Wenhua Award", and the first prize for composition at the 5th China Drama Festival in 1997. The award was unanimously recognized by experts from the Ministry of Culture as another milestone in Chinese folk dance dramas.
