How to put your iPhone into vibrate, ring, or silent mode
The ring/silent switch is located on the left side of your iPhone. You can use it to control the sound played through your iPhone speakers.
Turn ring/silent mode on or off on iPhone
In ring mode, you will hear ringtones and reminders. In silent mode, you won't hear ringtones and alerts, but your iPhone can still play sounds, such as playing music or videos.
Use Ring Mode
To put your iPhone into ring mode, move this switch so that the orange color does not appear.
Use Silent Mode
To put your iPhone into silent mode, move this switch so that orange appears.
Change ringtones, sounds, and vibrations
On iPhone 7 or later, go to Settings > Sound & Touch. On older iPhone models, go to Settings > Sound.
Select what you want to adjust, such as "Ring tone" or "New mail received."
Tap the desired alert tone. You can also tap Vibrate and choose a vibration mode, or create a custom vibration.
How to change the ringtone shown on iPhone
Use the buttons to change the ringtone and alert volume
If you want to make the ringtone and alert volume control independent of other apps, Please turn off "Adjust with buttons". You'll then need to manually adjust ringtone and alert volumes in Settings > Sounds & Haptics or Settings > Sounds.
Choose when your device vibrates
On iPhone 7 or later, go to Settings > Sound & Touch. On older iPhone models, go to Settings > Sound.
You can choose whether your iPhone vibrates when it is set to ring or silent mode. If you turn off these two settings, your iPhone will not vibrate.
Create a custom vibration
Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics or Settings > Sounds.
Select an option under "Ringtone & Vibrate Mode."
Tap Vibrate, then tap Create New Vibration Pattern.
Tap the screen to create a vibration pattern, then tap Stop.
Tap Play to test the vibration.
Tap Save and name the vibration pattern. You can also tap Record to redo a custom vibration.
