In fact, I think music should not have boundaries. The so-called popular, ethnic, and bel canto singing methods should not be so clearly distinguished. Singing depends on the condition of the voice and the expression of emotions, and of course method.

In today's universities, music has different singing methods, and there are also special classifications in art exams. In this direction of music there are vocal music and instrumental music.

When I took the art exam, I also planned to take popular songs, but I didn’t have enough time, so I didn’t change the songs. There are also people around me who just listen to popular songs when they go to the exam, but they are not in the same exam room as us.

Moreover, I only started to learn vocal music after the first semester of my senior year in high school. I only studied for a few months, so there was nothing that was too late. Moreover, the art test mainly listens to your voice, pitch, and emotion, with the first two accounting for a larger proportion.

You can first go to a music store that specializes in vocal training for college entrance examinations (check carefully, many training classes now look the same on the surface...) and ask the teachers for specific information, because I studied nationality, so I don’t know much about it.

As for the advantages, it’s hard to say. As long as your voice condition is good, you will have advantages in everything you study. However, I think there are too many singing artists in the current entertainment industry. If your voice quality is not very outstanding, it is recommended not to follow the current popular line. Isn’t it true that rare things are more valuable?

It is best to follow the teacher's advice. Most teachers can accurately detect the advantages of your voice, but this should wait until you enter college.

The majors in the university are divided very carefully. There are two major categories of music performance: singing and instrumental music. If you have the conditions, it is also good to learn instrumental music. You are only a freshman in high school now, so you have plenty of time. Choose an instrument to learn, and you don’t need to be too proficient. There are professional teachers in the university who teach one-on-one, so now you just learn to lay the foundation...

This Just my personal thoughts and for reference only. Some places may not be very clear. You can go to a specialized training place to find out. You still have plenty of time.
