Xi'an, my hometown, was called Chang'an in ancient times, which means "stability in the northwest." It is now the capital of Shaanxi Province and the center of politics, economy, culture, and transportation in the province. As a national tourist hotspot, Xi'an In recent years, it has received 9 million tourists from home and abroad. Nowadays, Xi'an's tourism facilities are becoming increasingly complete, and its warm and thoughtful services will welcome more tourists. Today, as a native of Xi'an, I invite you to visit beautiful Xi'an with me.
We will first go to the famous Huiminfang, a gathering area for Muslims. There are several criss-crossing alleys, full of time-honored restaurants of the Hui people. When you get here, you can’t help but buy Shaanxi specialties, and you can’t help but taste the classic Hui food. The long-planned lunch must be eaten here, and the choice is Lao Baijia Shui. Pot mutton, this water pot sheep has quite a history. It is said that it is eaten by the locals during the hot summer season. The tender mutton plus a lot of spicy food makes you sweat when you eat it, it can relieve the heat, and it tastes very delicious. Hence the name "June Fresh". There is a scenic spot called the Great Mosque in the depths of Huiminfang, which is very impressive. Looking at the buildings inside, you can tell that it has a long history. There are two buildings that impressed me. One is the worship hall (I forgot the scientific name), which is a place where the Hui people worship. It is very spacious inside, and you need slippers to enter; the other is the "water house". After reading the description, I learned that it was us. The so-called "bathroom" is a bit interesting. At first I thought it was a place to get hot water from the name. It is said that they have to bathe in the water room to cleanse themselves before worshiping. It is holy enough.
Speaking of holiness, I have to mention the position of the Bell and Drum Towers in my heart. The Bell and Drum Towers are located in the center of Xi'an. According to records, they were built in the Ming Dynasty. I am very surprised that the Bell and Drum Towers are sister towers. Why Geographically, it is not symmetrical due south and north, or due east and west, and a diagonal line is taken. There are more than ten bells, large and small, on the bell tower. The most prominent one on the drum tower is the 24 large drums corresponding to the 24 solar terms. One of the more interesting things on the day of the tour was seeing a bunch of couples taking photos of the emperor and his concubine at the Bell Tower; the drumming performances on the Drum Tower were very exciting and worthy of praise!
Xi’an’s monuments are not only symmetrical in their internal architectural styles, but also in their names. If there is a Small Wild Goose Pagoda, there must be a Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is a pagoda in Jianfu Temple. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. It is actually a pagoda. Now the top of the pagoda has disappeared. It doesn’t take much effort to walk around from the bottom to the top of the pagoda. It flashed back to the scene in Bruce Lee's movie "Tower of Death", all the historical monuments and pagodas looked like this. In fact, I personally feel that other buildings deep inside Kanfukuji Temple are more attractive, with their classic symmetrical layout. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Ci'en Temple. The musical fountain in front of the temple is the most spectacular and is known as the largest musical fountain in Asia.
Then we went to Famen Temple to pay our respects. Famen Temple is located in Fufeng Town, a suburb of Xianyang. It is very remote. When we went there, it took 2 hours by car from Xianyang. Of course, we didn’t take the expressway, and we also passed Maweipo on the way. , it is said to be the place where Concubine Yang was killed. Graves of all sizes can be seen everywhere on the road. Finally, we reversed the car again in Fufeng Town and finally arrived at Famen Temple (I have to say, the Shaanxi Liangpi served at the roadside stall is really good) . There are so many treasures in Famen Temple. It is an eye-opener and it was not in vain for us to travel through mountains and rivers. You can feast your eyes on Sakyamuni's Buddha treasures, relics, Zen staffs, and some cultural relics from the Tang Dynasty. It is said that the Tang Dynasty was the period when Chinese Buddhist culture reached its peak.
