Ilulissat is the third largest settlement in Greenland with a population of about 4,000. The town is located in the middle of the west coast of Greenland, 69 degrees north latitude and 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Ilulissat's Danish name Jakobshavn is also widely known. Ilulissat literally means "iceberg" in Greenland.
