Liuyang is a famous hometown of fireworks in China. Liuyang fireworks "began in Tang Dynasty and flourished in Song Dynasty", which originated in Dayao Town, a major town in southern Liunan. Liuyang fireworks have a long history, which has been 1300 years.
During the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, the number of firecrackers spread all over Hunan ports, and the annual output of fireworks and firecrackers soared. 90% of the residents in Dayao, Jingangtou, Tanjiang and Wen Jia are produced by family workshops, and the fireworks and whips have become a big industry, which is known as "ten families and nine explosions".
Inventor of firecrackers
Legend has it that the inventor of firecrackers was Li Yi of the Tang Dynasty. Today, there is still a "ancestral hall" built in the Song Dynasty in Tianjiaxiang, Mashi Street, Liuyang, which is regarded as the founder of the firecrackers industry.
According to legend, April 18th of the lunar calendar is Li Yi's birthday. People in the firecracker industry burn incense, light candles, offer three sacrifices every day, bow down to Li Yi's shrine, make pious sacrifices and pray for blessing. The teachers and students the night before were even more lively.
Legend has it that Li Yisheng lived in the year of Sui Renshou (60 1-604). When Li Yi was young, his parents died young, so he traveled around the world to serve the imperial court. I went to Leiyang, my hometown in Cai Lun, to study papermaking technology, visited craftsmen all over the world, and got a true biography of saltpeter refining.
It has also been said that Sun Simiao, the drug king, pointed out the maze and pioneered "burning sulfur" as "saltpeter paper explosion" and "fireworks salute".
