In the early days of the Three Kingdoms, Gao Dai, the son of Biao Gao, a famous historical figure, was smart, eager to learn, knowledgeable and famous in Jiangdong. However, he lived in seclusion at the northern foot of the western mountains, regardless of class, and was indifferent to Zhi Ming, cultivating self-cultivation and entertaining himself. At that time, Sun Ce, a separatist regime in Jiangdong, admired Gao Dai's name and ordered him to go out for advice. After Gao Dai refused, Sun Ce imprisoned him and was finally killed.
In order to commemorate this great man, the people of Jiangdong buried him at the northern foot of the Xishan Mountain where he lived in seclusion, built a tall grave for him, and named this mountain Gaoshan. Later people called it "Xishan" because it is different from Jiao Shan in the east, and all local chronicles are titled "Xishan".
