Xu Zhuoyun, 1930 was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and 1962 received his doctorate from the University of Chicago. He has taught in Taiwan Province Provincial University and University of Pittsburgh, and has been employed as a professor in Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Hawaii, Duke University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for many times. 1986 Honorary Fellow of American Humanities Society. His representative works include History of Western Zhou Dynasty, Agriculture in Han Dynasty, On the Ancient Social History of China, Rivers through the ages, Talking about China, China Cultural Spirit, etc.
