In the 14th year of Emperor Taizong's reign (the 12th year of Yongle), North Korea's Records of the Li Dynasty recorded that Yuan Minsheng, an official sent by North Korea to the Ming Dynasty, returned from Beijing on the ugly day of September, and he brought back a "imperial decree". At the worst time of the killings, the newly-built three halls of the Forbidden City, namely, Fengtian, Gai Hua and Shen Jing, were burned to ashes by lightning.
