In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (589), Chongren County was established, and the county was named after the original Chongren Township.
1984 May 3 1, Taoyuan Commune is divided into Taoyuan Township and Zhang Fang Town; Xiangshan Commune is divided into Xiangshan Township, Shanxie Township and Gangxia Township (Gan Fu Ting Zi [1984] 166).
