Content introduction:

Great history can provide a framework for us to understand all the history from BIGBANG to the present. Usually in schools, science and history are taught separately-there are special physics courses and special courses on the origin of civilization-but great history has broken this boundary. It puts the human past in the history of life, the earth and the universe, and becomes a wonderful way to explain yourself and everything around you. Any problem in today's world can be explained in great history. It can be said that great history provides an ideological framework to connect and integrate nature and humanity, history and the present.

From the universe to geology, from biology to human history, Grand History and the Future of Mankind (revised edition) links the core concepts and paradigms of many disciplines, tracks the rise and fall of all major complex forms including human behavior, value system and the operation of the universe, puts forward an energy flow model, constructs a grand historical framework, explains the operation principle of Grand History, and provides new insights for the future of mankind. In addition, this book also contains various explanations of "small history" and scientific concepts, which makes us realize how grand concepts are related to daily life and explains a great history that everyone can understand.

Editor's recommendation

1. Bill Gates spent tens of millions of dollars to start the "Great History Project" to promote the great history education in thousands of American universities and middle schools, so that they can open their eyes to understand the world and think about the future.

Scholars such as Bill Gates, David Christian and Fred speer offer free online courses on great history, and many professional scholars and teachers such as mathematicians, philosophers, biologists, physicists and historians contribute to the great history project, aiming at providing lifelong learners with an ideological framework that transcends disciplinary restrictions, so as to understand the world and think about the future with a broad vision.

2. Grand History and the Future of Mankind is another historical masterpiece after Time Map, Origin: Grand History of Everything and Concise Grand History. Bill Gates and David Christian recommended it.

3. Basic work of grand history, and construction of grand historical framework.

Author speer explained the principle of grand history operation, traced the rise and fall of all major complex forms including human behavior, value system and the operation of the universe, put forward an energy flow model, and laid the theoretical foundation of grand history.

4. Re-enlightenment of Science is an important reference book for lifelong learners. Linking the core concepts and paradigms of many disciplines, opening up science and humanities, and pursuing a holistic interpretation of the world on the basis of collective knowledge.

Man is neither the beginning nor the end of the earth. This book is not rooted in a specific cultural region and professional direction, but opposes anthropocentrism, puts human beings in the history of life, the earth and the universe, and provides an ideological framework for lifelong learners to connect and integrate nature and humanities, history and the present.

5. The "big history" is the skeleton, and the "small history" is the flesh and blood. The grand concept is linked with daily life and applied to the current problems in a simple way.

In addition to theoretical models, this book also contains "mini-history" narratives and explanations of various scientific concepts, such as the origin of cosmology, the second law of thermodynamics, the mini-history of astronomy, the origin and evolution of emotional and religious creativity, and the advancement of complexity. The organic combination of macro and micro makes our understanding of the present more clear.

6. Reflect on the limits of growth, explore sustainable development, and ask about the future of the community of human destiny.

How did mankind fall into the predicament of growth limit? To answer this question, it is necessary to find out how the human world, even the whole universe, has developed to the present and how history has shaped the present situation. This book starts with the growth limit of human beings, uses the great history as a tool, connects the past and the present, explains all aspects of the real world, and explores the road to sustainable development of the world.

7. The revised content is more than one third.

Praise and recommend

Great history can provide a framework for us to understand all the history from BIGBANG to the present. Usually in schools, science and history are taught separately-there are special courses on physics and the origin of civilization-but Grand History breaks this boundary. Whenever I learn new knowledge, whether it is biology, history or any other subject, I always try to put it in the framework of big history. No other course will have such a great influence on the way I see the world.

-Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft and chairman of the Gates Foundation.

This is by far the best great historical theory work. From the universe to geology, from biology to human history, great history links the core concepts and paradigms of many disciplines. It combines science and humanities into a modern, science-based origin story. This is a very necessary reading for anyone interested in the rapidly developing new field.

David Christian

The author of Time Map and Origin: The Great History of Everything, and the founder of the Great History School.

Great history combines natural history and human history into a pure, grand and understandable narrative. This is a great achievement, which can be compared with Newton's way of combining time and space with a unified law of motion in17th century, and is also similar to Darwin's achievement of unifying human beings and other life forms with a set of evolutionism in19th century.

William Hardy william mcneill.

Famous historian, founder of global history research, former president of American Historical Society.

Speer led us to take an important step forward. He explained a great history that everyone can understand.

-World History Magazine

This is a profound and important book. It makes many people in different fields embark on a new road to seek a grand and unified theory.

-Journal of Global History
