Anyue was called Zhou Pu in ancient times. According to the available historical records, Zhouxian County was founded in Jiande four years in the Northern Zhou Dynasty (AD 575), with a history of 1400 years. The county seat was built on the Tiefeng Mountain in the county seat, so it took the meaning of "living by the mountain" and got the county name, which is still in use today. In the first year of the Great Cause of Sui Dynasty (AD 605), the province was under the jurisdiction of Zhou Pu People's Capital (located in Chonglong Town, Zhong Xian County, Sichuan Province). In the third year of Daye (AD 607), Zizhou was abandoned and changed to Ziyang County, and Anyue County belonged to Ziyang County. In the second year of Tang Wude (AD 6 19), Ziyang County was restored to Zhou Pu. In the first year of Tianbao (AD 742), Zhou Pu was changed to Anyue County.
