Development history of European and American comics

Comics originated in Europe and flourished in the United States. As early as prehistoric times, the creation techniques similar to cartoons were widely used in the rock painting art of ancestors, and the expression techniques of cartoons can be regarded as an ancient painting method. However, the name and creation of comics only appeared at the end of 16.

During the Renaissance, due to the development of printing technology and the need of religious struggle, European cartoons were already in the process of formation. Many famous painters have contributed to the development of comics. Leonardo da vinci painted a lot of grotesque portraits and cartoons. A man named old Peter? Brugell (old Peter Brugell, 1525? -1569) in northern Europe.

The popularity of comics soon spread from France to the whole of Europe, and the center of comics also shifted from France to Britain. After a long process of development, British comics have matured. 184 1 year, the British cartoon publication Punch came out. The cartoonists John Tenniel (1820- 19 14) and David Rowe (1891-kloc-0/963) both influenced the development of modern cartoons in Europe and America.

If one-line comics are the cradle of political comics, then multi-comics are the garden of comics development.

Western comic historians usually take The Journey of a Wandering Woman and The Return of the Prodigal Son written by the great British artist Huo Jiasi as the starting point of comic books. Hogarth combines the article with the picture, which enhances the story and drama of the cartoon. Later, at the end of 18, British painter James Gillray made extensive use of dialogue bubbles and continuous pictures, and cartoons were initially formed.

Before and after World War II, it was the mature period of comic development. The comics of this period have found a spiritual sustenance for people in this turbulent era, that is, the enduring superhero comics. The so-called superhero comics are to lock the content of the comics in the scope of superheroes, and the style of painting is already very realistic. Although the cartoons of heroes are very old-fashioned, these heroes have aroused the condemnation of European and American residents and are widely accepted and loved by them.

Comic books are in an awkward position in the art world, but their development has not suffered any major setbacks and blows. On the other hand, non-mainstream comics, another wonderful flower in the comic industry, have not formed a consistent climate like mainstream comics. Generally speaking, there seems to be only two waves of non-mainstream comics in the history of European and American comics. This country is dominated by the United States and Britain.

The theme of non-mainstream comics extends to areas that the mainstream does not touch, which is more extreme than mainstream comics. Whether in content or form, it is full of absurd or even postmodern colors.

When people talk about Hollywood cartoons, they think of Disney. It can be said that the history of Hollywood animated feature films before 1980s is the history of Disney animated feature films. From the earliest Snow White (1937) to Finding Nemo, Disney has created an American animation myth, and its outstanding contribution has been indisputably proved by 32 Oscar awards, 7 Grammy awards and 950 world awards. Disney Company has a history of 80 years. In the past 80 years, it is not difficult to see the efforts made by American long cartoons in choosing themes and catering to the tastes of the audience.

In the early 1930s, the audiences of Disney animated feature films were mainly children, and Disney produced a series of animated feature films, such as Snow White, Peter and the Wolf, Dumbo, Pinocchio and Bambi. It can be seen that most of the animated films at that time were based on fairy tales that children were familiar with, and the painting style of the films also embodied an orthodox and peaceful atmosphere. Everything is a clever and happy ending. It was the golden age of Disney's animation kingdom. Since the 1950s, Disney has made animated feature films such as Susie and the Tramp, Cinderella, Treasure Island and Sleeping Beauty. Except Susie and The Tramp, which continue to take animals (dogs) as comic protagonists, the other three films all take people as comic protagonists, which shows that Disney animated feature films tend to be animated in terms of material selection and audience-oriented age levels. In the next 20 years, Disney did not create unforgettable cartoons. Until the 1990s, Disney finally ushered in the second spring of the development of animated feature films. The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story, Romance in the Wind, The hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Bug Squad, Toy Story 2, The Lion King 2, Mount Tai and dinosaurs.

1997, the success of DreamWorks and the Prince of Egypt finally broke the situation that Disney monopolized the Hollywood animation industry. Then came Warner's Iron Giant, Fox's Ice Age, and Paramount's Hey Arnold! Hollywood animation industry has finally entered an era in which a hundred schools of thought contend. Only when there is competition can there be motivation and achievement, so there is such a brilliant scene of Finding Nemo today.
