Historical evolution of rice fields
Guluanzhou, Kaiping, Daodi, Shucheng and Zhenzhen are four famous towns, among which Daodi is the first of the four famous towns.

Daodi Town is one of the oldest market towns in Tangshan with a history of 800 years. It is the first of the four famous towns in Guluanzhou, and now it is under the jurisdiction of Fengnan District of Tangshan City.

Daodi Town developed earlier than Tangshan City, Xugezhuang Town and Hetou Town (these two towns became the main urban areas of Fengnan District of Tangshan City, and Hetou Town has disappeared).

Thousands of years ago, the area where Daodi Town was located was a very low-lying coastal area. According to legend, Kang Lituo, the prime minister of Yuan Dynasty, started the cultivation of rice in JD.COM, and hired experts from Jiangnan to teach technology, hence the name paddy field.

Daodi Town was founded in Shao Xiyuan, Southern Song Dynasty. During the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, "Tuliji" defeated Anjizhai Village (now under the jurisdiction of Daodi Town) and set up a town. At that time, there were many rice shops and business was booming.

At the end of the yuan dynasty, due to the war, the population of rice fields dropped sharply and it was desolate everywhere.

After the founding of the Ming Dynasty, Judy of Ming Taizu sent a letter from the densely populated Yellow River valley to the north, and the rice field economy began to prosper again. By the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, rice fields had become very famous in JD.COM.

According to the Records of Luanzhou in Qing Dynasty, Daodi Town is "the crown of Kaiping (now Tangshan District 1), Shucheng (now Luannan County of Tangshan) and Zhenzhen (now Luanxian County), with fertile land, rich products, rich humanities and particularly prosperous business".

The paddy field is like a closed castle, surrounded by a river from north to south, with a width of about 500m from north to south and a length of 1000m from east to west. There is an east-west street in the city, which divides into hutongs from north to south. At night, there are people wandering in every hutong. There are many shops on both sides of the street, which are magnificent, and several gates correspond far away. Outside the East Gate, there are North-South Traffic Avenue (the traffic artery south of Tangshan to Song Jiaying, Daxinzhuang and Tanghai) and square. During the Qianlong period, there were more than 200 commercial fixed outlets in the town, including banks, pawn shops, dye houses, brewing workshops, inns, restaurants, hospitals, food stores and bathing places, among which 24 were brewing workshops (commonly known as "woks" by local people). The produced sorghum liquor is sweet and delicious, which is famous in Beijing and has become a well-known local specialty. There are Wenchang Pavilion, Volcano Temple, Wang Yao Temple and other temples inside and outside the town 13. Every temple fair is very lively. Famous snacks include Kuitailong's tongue cake (crispy and delicious, and oil-tight for a long time), Tianjia steamed dumplings, Geng Kuiying's sausage and so on.

Now, the reputation of Daodi Town is not as good as before, especially after the earthquake of July 28th, 1976, the ancient city and ancient buildings no longer exist, the large paddy fields more than 800 years ago have disappeared, the cornices of Daodi Street and the vocal boiling of the temple of fire have long since disappeared, leaving nothing in the town, even the iron bridge that has experienced the wind and rain of 100 years. The style and features of the ancient city of paddy field remain only in the memory of the older generation. Only the name "paddy field" has been handed down from generation to generation and has been passed down to this day.

Most of the famous snacks in Daodi Town have been lost, and the craft of "steamed dumplings" and "sausages" still exists, but the scale and reputation are not large. In addition, the radish in Anji Village is famous in Tangshan, but the yield is not large due to the influence of planting area.

It is worth mentioning that paddy field was once the seat of Fengnan county government in the early days of liberation, and Fengnan No.1 Middle School rebuilt by Tianjia Courtyard has always been the highest institution of learning in Fengnan County, Fengnan City and Fengnan District. It was not until Fengnan No.1 Middle School moved from paddy field to Fengnan City and the original Fengnan No.1 Middle School was changed to Fengnan No.2 Middle School that the educational status of Fengnan paddy field changed.

The tunnel railway bridge was built in 190 1, which is the earliest railway bridge in Hebei province. This iron bridge used to be a wooden bridge, which was maintained by monks of Wang Yao Temple in paddy field. The bridge is short and crowded, and it is in danger of falling into the steep river if you are not careful. Wang Huaqi, an American student who was then the director of Shanhaiguan Bridge Factory, was a rice farmer. He went back to his hometown to visit relatives, passed by the bridge, and saw that it was inconvenient to walk, so he had the idea of repairing the bridge. After returning to the factory, he raised materials in various ways, found friends as designers, and joined hands with the rice chamber of commerce to finally build this iron bridge that benefited the whole village.
