The school's predecessor was the Rehe crash school of law and politics, which was founded in 1907 with the royal approval of Emperor Guangxu, and belonged to this department. 19 12 was renamed as Jehol College of Public Politics and Law, and 19 15 was renamed as Jehol Public Normal School. 19 17 was renamed as Jehol Normal School, and 1930 was renamed as Jehol Normal School. 1934 changed its name to Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province, 1938 changed its name to Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province, 1945 changed its name to Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province, 1946 participated in the merger to form Chengde United Middle School, 1946 the former Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province was partially transformed into Chengde in Jehol Province.

1949 was renamed the First Normal School of Jehol Province; 1950 changed its name to Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province; 1956 Chengde Normal School in Jehol Province was renamed Chengde Normal School; 1958 Chengde Teachers College merged with Hebei Teachers College (Chengde Branch) and was upgraded to Chengde Teachers College. Tongzhou Teachers College 1959 was merged into Chengde Teachers College, and Chengde Teachers College 1960 was upgraded to Chengde Teachers College.

Chengde Teachers College 196 1 was transformed into Chengde Teachers College, Chengde Teachers College 1962 was transformed into Chengde Teachers College, Chengde Teachers College 1978 was upgraded to Chengde Teachers College, and Chengde Teachers College 1992 was renamed as Chengde Teachers College for Nationalities. 1999 Chengde Normal University for Nationalities and Chengde Regional Education College (some functions and resources) were merged into Chengde Normal University for Nationalities. On March 20 10, it was upgraded and renamed Hebei Normal University for Nationalities with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the only national undergraduate college in Hebei Province. 20 13 September, the school signed an agreement with the Central University for Nationalities for counterpart support.
