1, Outline of China's Philosophy History

The Outline of China's Philosophy History is a monograph of pre-Qin philosophy thought by Chinese philosopher Hu Shi. This book was originally Hu Shi's doctoral thesis "The Evolutionary History of China's Ancient Philosophical Methods" when he was studying at Columbia University. 19 17 compiled "Peking University's Lectures on the History of China Philosophy".

19 18 July, finishing, August, prefaced by Cai Yuanpei, 19 19 February, published by Shanghai Commercial Press. It was a sensation, but it will be reprinted in two months.

The Outline of China's Philosophy History is the first history of China's ancient philosophy written systematically by using bourgeois viewpoints and methods in China's modern history, which has the historical significance of anti-feudal progress and occupies an important position in the history of China's philosophy.

The book is divided into 12 articles, with more than 65438 words. 1 Introduction, No.2 to 1 1, with the theme of characters, systematically discusses the historical evolution of philosophical thoughts from Laozi to Han Fei.

12 Chapter "The End of Ancient Philosophy" summarizes the philosophy of this historical period. The author examines China's ancient philosophy from the viewpoint of bourgeois pragmatism, and basically gets rid of the traditional form of Confucian classics in China.

In the history of China's philosophy, even in the study of various special and general history, it is a pioneering work and a positive achievement of the May 4th Movement.

The Outline of the History of China's Philosophy only completed the first half of the first volume. Although Hu Shi has repeatedly promised to write the second half of Fu Zi in his lifetime, this book has always been the first volume. Hu Shi's masterpiece "The History of Vernacular Literature" is only the first volume, and it is said that he is good at writing half a volume.

Step 2 try to collect

Attempt Collection is a collection of poems written by Hu Shi. It is the first vernacular poetry collection published in New Youth magazine during the New Culture Movement. Published on 1920. There are three parts.

The first part mainly focuses on old-style poems, while the second and third parts try to use free verse style and reform rhyme rhythm, which is the first vernacular poetry collection in the history of modern literature.

The works either curse the dark rule of feudal warlords and the hypocrisy of old ethics, or express the spirit of individual liberation and positive enterprising, or praise the sacredness of labor. Hu Shi was undoubtedly the first vernacular poet.

His collection of attempts is full of contradictions, which shows the difficult process of being born out of traditional poetry, transforming, gradually finding and experimenting with new poetry forms.

3. History of Vernacular Literature

Hu Shi asserted that all valuable literature must be vernacular literature; China's classical literature is worthless. So he thought that China had only some "dead literature" in two thousand years.

This book describes the history of China literature after the Han Dynasty as a history in which classical Chinese literature and vernacular literature struggled with each other. On the surface, classical Chinese is authentic. In fact, vernacular literature constantly beats classical Chinese.

Therefore, this history is the history of vernacular literature constantly overcoming obstacles and finally winning the status of "orthodoxy" and "authenticity".
