During the Zhou Dynasty, Yu came here to build a boat and cross the river, so the Vietnamese called it Yuhang.
It was called Qiantang in the Qin Dynasty.
Qiantang was changed to Quanting County in the Western Han Dynasty and restored to Qiantang County in the Eastern Han Dynasty.
The Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty and the Southern and Northern Dynasties are Xing Wu County.
The name Hangzhou first appeared when the Sui Dynasty abandoned the county as a state.
