According to the Records of Gongcheng County, before Gongcheng was founded, the Qin Dynasty belonged to He Lin County (now the county) of Guilin County.
In the sixth year of Emperor Ding Yuan (1 1 1), Cangwu County was established, and He Lin County was divided into three counties: He Lin, Fuchuan and Lipu. The city belongs to fuchuan county, Cangwu County.
In the first year of the Three Kingdoms Ganlu (AD 265), Shi 'an County was established, and fuchuan county was assigned to Pingle County. Gongcheng belongs to Pingle County, Shi 'an County. In the 14th year of the Great Cause of Sui Dynasty (AD 6 18), a small army rose to Bashu, occupied Guangdong, and became Emperor Liang, with Guizhou (namely Guilin) as the initial tea city, and the county seat was at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain.
In the fourth year of Tang Wude (AD 62 1 year), Pingxiaoxi established Lezhou, which governed Pingle, Yongfeng, Gongcheng and Sha Ting counties, and the tea city was renamed Gongcheng.
In the eighth year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty (AD 634), Lezhou was changed to Zhaozhou. The Five Dynasties and the Song Dynasty followed the Tang system.
In the first year of Song Taiping and Xingguo (AD 976), Gongcheng County moved to Longzhu City, the northern township, which is now the source of Shangzhai Village in Limu Town. From the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (AD 62 1 year), "Tea City" was renamed as "Gongcheng", which has been in use ever since. Why was Gongcheng originally called "Tea City"? Some people say that it is because there is a famous tea river in Gongcheng, from which the name of the tea city comes. There is also a saying that people in Gongcheng have loved to play with camellia since ancient times. The camellia produced is delicious and nutritious, so it is called tea city. These are folk sayings, which cannot be confirmed.
As for why the Tea City was renamed Gongcheng, there are two folk legends, which are about brew tea.
It is said that Gongcheng county magistrate in the Tang Dynasty was an alcoholic. He often drinks every kind of wine, and when he drinks it, he gets drunk, and when he gets drunk, he does stupid things. Once drunk, I didn't ask three sentences during the trial, so I threw a sign and shouted, "Give me a heavy blow!" The chief asked him, "How many boards do you want to hit?" "He said," hit, hit three pounds! "".People in the class are very patient, and don't cry or laugh. Another time, after drinking wine, he wrote a little more "tea" in that tea city. His people said timidly, "Sir, this word seems to be wrong." The county magistrate said angrily, "Bold! Sir, I have read the books of Confucius sages. How did I make a mistake? " Later, I simply made a mistake and wrote the tea city as Gongcheng. This statement is similar to a joke, because even if the county official writes the wrong county name, it must be approved by the state official and the emperor. It is very serious to change the place name indiscriminately.
Another way of saying this is that Zhou Wei, a Gongcheng native and a government official who supervised the imperial history, saw the name "Tea City", which made the people who don't produce tea here pay more taxes, which was miserable. So he played the emperor and suggested changing the name of "Tea City" to "Gongcheng". Admittedly, Zhou Wei asked the court to reduce the taxes of Gongcheng people. Although "Old Gongcheng County Records" records that Zhou Wei changed the tea city to Gongcheng: "Zhaozhou (now Pingle area) belongs to the old tea city, urging salt tea, and Zhou Wei wrote a letter to it. Please remove the prohibition of salt tea, not to mention the name of the city, so that it is easy for the tea city to be respectful and the villagers to be virtuous. " But changing the name of the city is not a historical fact.
In the Tang Dynasty, "Tea City" was changed to "Gongcheng". According to the "Gongcheng County Records" reprinted in the fifteenth year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, "At the end of Sui Dynasty, Liang Xiaoxi set off for Baling, and according to the territory of Guangdong, he started to set up a county and set up a tea city. In the fourth year of Tang Wude, Xiao Xi set Pingle as the state governor and changed the tea city to Gongcheng. " The expression of changing "Tea City" to "Gongcheng" in this paper is very detailed and should be credible. Then, according to historical facts, the county name was changed in 62 1 year, when it was the Tang Dynasty and Zhou Wei was not born. Folk rumors actually expressed the local people's love for Zhou Wei, an honest official.
