The Historical Evolution of Chujiang Town
The jurisdiction of Chujiang Town, Shimen County, formerly known as Shimen, has a long history. It was the land of Chu River in the Warring States Period, Wuling County in the Han Dynasty, Tianmen County in Wu Dong in the Three Kingdoms Period and Liyang County in Tianmen County in the Jin Dynasty. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the rule of Tianmen County moved from Zhangjiajie to Shimen, and in the second year of Yongding, Chen Wudi (558), Tianmen County was established in Hou Liang, called Shimen County, formerly known as Shimen. Since then, it has been the county resident. Ming was the county capital, called Wannianfang in the early Qing Dynasty, and belonged to Shoushan District in the early Republic of China.

1935 changed its name to Tianmen town, 1938 changed its name to central township (which governs streets and towns), and 1943 changed its name to town. Because it belongs to the hometown of Chu, there is a Chu River Tower in the territory, hence the name Chu River Town.

1949 On July 25th, Shimen County was liberated, the county government was established on August 5th, and the people's government of Chengguan Town was established in September.

1June, 1995, the county withdrew from the district and merged into the township, and Chengguan Town was renamed as Chujiang Town.

In July, 2002, the former East, South and West Neighborhood Committees merged into Laoximen Community, Guanshan and Chengbei Neighborhood Committees merged into Guanshan Community, and Shenyang and Xirong Neighborhood Committees merged into Guanyang Community.

In September 2002, the whole county implemented integrated management. Erdu Township has nine neighborhood committees, including Huangnigang, Zhongdu, Xinpugang, Shuang Tu Temple, Pagoda, Moon Mountain, Tiangong Mountain, Caojiapeng and Chen Shi Temple, and Yijiadu Town has six neighborhood committees, including Yanjiaba, Xinchang, Shaigu, Gu Yong, Yongxing Temple and Liu Jiaping. Xinguan Town Shuanghong Neighborhood Committee is under the jurisdiction of Chujiang Town.

In September 2003, four neighborhood committees, Moon Mountain, Tiangong Mountain, Caojiapeng and Chen Shi Temple, were placed under the jurisdiction of the industrial park.

In September 2006, the neighborhood committees of Yongxing Temple and Liu Jiaping were merged into the Liu Jiaping community, the neighborhood committees of Xinchang, Shaigu and Yanjiaba were merged into the Xinchang community, and the neighborhood committees of Xinpugang and Shuangtumiao were merged into the Shuangxin community.
