He graduated from Fujian Ship Administration School and Royal Naval Academy successively, and served as the general manager of the Translation Bureau of Shi Jing University, the dean of Shanghai Fudan College, the dean of Anqing Normal College, and the editor-in-chief of the Qing Dynasty Terminology Institute.
