The Historical Evolution of Bao Li
As a thousand-year-old town in the Yangtze River Delta, Pauli has a long history. Known as the "hometown of three sages", the Qing Dynasty was the Bao Li market in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The fourth battle of "Seven Wars and Seven Wins" between the Soviet Union and China started here.

Baoli Town was a piece of Wang Yang before the Tang Dynasty. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, due to sediment deposition, it emerged from the sea before the surrounding areas, forming sandbars, which were called "red banks" because of their high soil color. Later, due to the continuous deposition of sediment, it gradually connected with the mainland and became an estuary on the coast of the Yellow Sea. Fishermen and salt people built houses here to live in, and gradually became a small village called "Chian Village". Ren Yuan, a Japanese monk, entered the Tang Dynasty in 839 AD. After returning to China, he wrote a book "Seeking Dharma in the Tang Dynasty", which recorded that "I went to Chian Village on the 20th. In the Song Dynasty, due to the increase in the number of households, "Chian Village" was upgraded from a village to a township and renamed "Chian Township". Li Furen, the mother of Cheng Guan in the Temple of Song Dynasty, was buried in Chian Township on the fourth day of September in Yuanfeng six years. Qin Guan once wrote Li Furen's Epitaph for her, which was included in his Huaihai Collection. Li Bao was still called "the land of bare shores" in Yuan Dynasty. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, pirates rose because of the vast land and sparsely populated coastal areas of the Yellow Sea. In the 19th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, the Japanese army invaded the coast of northern Jiangsu and plundered the people. The coastal areas built castles to strengthen themselves, and the villagers in Chian also built mud castles to repel the enemy. Because there are many people surnamed Li, they are called "Li Jiabao". "Ten School Records" records that there are nine castles in * * *, and Li Jiabao is the first of the nine castles. " "Rugao County Records" (Li Bao once belonged to Rugao County) said: "In the thirty-five years of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, I stayed in Zhao Ting, went to Shanghai as the head of the book, and sent silver to repair the fort. After the storm, as before, Zhao Qian failed to apply for detailed brick wrapping. There are earth barriers in Chacha, Shigang, Jiaoxie and Lijiabao. It can be seen that Li Jiabao was named after the construction of castles at the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty. Moreover, there was an earthen castle at that time, which only fell down later. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Bao Li was called "Li Jiabao", but during the Yongzheng and Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty, it was once called "Sanxian Town" because Bao Li had three sages: You, Jiang and Tuofan monks. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, "Lijiapu" was changed to "Baoli Town". 19 13, Bao Li's office in Bao Li was established, and "Baoli Town" was upgraded to "Bao Li City" (Caoshi City), with 22 townships under its jurisdiction. Soon after the city was founded, it was changed back to "Pauli Town" until after liberation. Although it has been adjusted many times, the title of "Baoli Town" has remained unchanged and continues to this day.

Bao Li is one of the "Top 100 Famous Towns in the Province", "300 Best Towns in China with Investment Environment" and one of satellite towns in Jiangsu Province.
