During the Warring States Period, Zhu Hai was originally a butcher. Because of his bravery, he was hired as a diner by Xin Lingjun. Later, he made great contributions in the battles of retreating from Qin, saving Zhao and protecting Wei. Later, Xin Lingjun sent Zhu Hai to the State of Qin. The king of Qin refused to let Zhu Hai go back, and asked him to work for the state of Qin, with high officials and generous salaries. Zhu Hai disagreed. The king of Qin put Zhu Hai and a tiger in a big iron cage to test Zhu Hai and threaten him. When the tiger saw someone being thrown into the cage, it pounced on him. Zhu Hai shouted, "Don't you dare, beast!" The tiger was too scared to move at Zhu Hai's feet. The king of Qin had no choice but to imprison Zhu Hai. Zhu Hai saw that there was no hope of going back, so he hit the post with his head. The post was broken but not dead, so he grabbed his throat and died.
