The Banquet is said to be based on Hamlet, and it is indeed a revision and compilation of Hamlet. However, because the national conditions of Denmark and the Five Dynasties and Ten Countries are very different, simply translating the plot will undoubtedly squeeze out many serious injuries all the way.

The prince in Hamlet is not a coward. He had a chance to assassinate his uncle, but considering that his father was killed in his sleep, he didn't have a chance to repent before he died, so he sent his father to hell. So Hamlet refused to kill his uncle while he was praying, because it would send him to heaven. This element cannot be translated into the banquet, which makes the prince in the banquet look weak.

In addition, many serious injuries in the film are related to the simple reproduction of Hamlet. For example, the queen can freely enter and leave the imperial court, and her voice loudly suggests that the emperor carve a "flying dragon in the sky", and young women can perform songs and dances at the emperor's banquet without authorization, which is not in line with the common sense of an ordinary person.
