Pingjiang Historic District Pingjiang Historic District is located in the northeast corner of Suzhou Ancient City, with an area of about 1 16.5 hectares. It starts from Outer City River in the east, Linton Road in the west, Ganjiang Road in the south and Baita East Road in the north. With a history of more than 2,500 years, it is the most typical and complete historical and cultural protection area in Suzhou. Up to now, it has maintained the double chessboard city pattern with roads and rivers in parallel, retained the characteristics of small bridges, flowing water, people and deep water city in the south of Gu Xiang, accumulated profound cultural heritage, and gathered extremely rich historical sites and cultural landscapes, including 1 lotus garden, 9 cultural protection units, 43 controlled buildings, and numerous ancient buildings, ancient bridges, ancient wells, ancient trees and ancient archways. Historically, many literati and dignitaries once lived here, and the residents in this area still maintain their traditional way of life. In 2002, the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to start the landscape protection and environmental improvement project of Pingjiang Road as a pilot project of the protection and improvement project of Pingjiang historical block. Suzhou Pingjiang Historic District Protection and Renovation Co., Ltd., jointly established by Suzhou City Investment Corporation and Pingjiang State-owned Company, is the main body of Pingjiang Historic District Protection and Renovation Project, and Professor Ruan of Tongji University presides over the planning of Pingjiang Historic District. At present, the landscape protection and environmental improvement project of Pingjiang Road is under way. Infrastructure renovation, third-line entry into the city, pavement paving, river regulation and other projects have been completed, and about 20,000 square meters of houses have been relocated, and house repair work is under way. Plan the waterfront around the city on the east side of the central block, so that the historical block can be fully integrated into the sightseeing pattern around the ancient city; The east-west light rail that has been started will set up two entrances and exits on the south side of the block, so that Pingjiang historical block can be better integrated into the "one body and two wings" pattern of "East Garden West Area and Ancient City Center" in Suzhou.
