Yuanyang county has a long history, many cultural relics and rich cultural landscape. There are 4 provincial-level cultural relics protection units and 52 county-level cultural relics protection units, which are distributed in 17 townships in the county. The four provincial cultural relics protection units are Linglong Pagoda in Northern Song Dynasty, Gudui Cultural Site in Shang Dynasty, Zhang Cang Tomb in Han Dynasty and Xiajia Courtyard in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.

Linglong Tower, also known as Huita, is located in Wuyuan Town, at 17.5 km west of the county seat. It was built during the reign of Huizong Chongning in the Northern Song Dynasty (1 105). It was originally a building of Shanhu Temple. In the Qing dynasty, the temple was destroyed by fire, leaving only one pagoda alone. Xiajia Courtyard is located in the south street of the county seat, with more than 150 houses, divided into four courtyards. The houses are in phase with each other and the courtyards are connected. The sill walls of the main courtyards are all wood carving partition fans, with exquisite patterns, skillful knives and lifelike flowers, birds and animals. It is a model of residential buildings in northern China in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
