During the War of Liberation, there was a sand mining campaign in the sand mining ten kilometers east of Heze. There is the battle between dragon and phoenix in Juye County, Heze, and the battle of Yangshan at the junction of Juye and Jinxiang in Jining (based on the movie: The Battle of Yangshan). During the Republic of China, Juye had a famous Juye religious plan, which was used by Germany as an excuse to send troops to occupy Qingdao.
