What ancient buildings are there in Wuhu, Anhui?
Wuhu ancient city has a history of more than two thousand years. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it was named "Jiuzi" because of "low terrain and gathering pigeons and birds". Located 20 kilometers southeast of the present urban area, this city is the beginning of Wuhu settlement. In the second year of Han Yuanfeng (BC 109), this place was named "Wuhu" because of "stagnant water in the lowlands" and Wuhu County was established. During the Three Kingdoms period, Wuhu was an important stronghold for Sun Wu to resist Cao Wei. In the second year of Wu (AD 223), the county site was moved from Jiuzi's hometown to Qingyi River mouth. Professor Feng Yuan of Sun Yat-sen University said that the ancient city of Wuhu has a typical Huizhou architecture, with wuyue charm in the east and Huizhou vein in the south, with a courtyard in the front and a back room, a blue brick and black tile horse head wall and a cloister facing the wall. He also said that the ancient city of Wuhu is also a typical organized city. There are officials (front gate of yamen, Li Anquan), households (Hongbao Bureau, south gate of treasury), courtesy (Town God Temple, Confucius Temple), soldiers (Dianjiangtai, Ming and Qing city walls), punishments (local trial and prosecution office, model prison in the roadway), workers (old) and deep professors Ying Tianqi, who have a deep ancient city complex. Professor Ying has special feelings for Wuhu, a representative of Huizhou architectural culture. He said that Wuhu has a profound historical and cultural heritage. There are many historical sites, such as the site of the Spring and Autumn Period, the battlefield of the Han Dynasty, the coquettish Tang and Song Dynasties, the prosperous cities of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the opening of modern ports, such as Chu Wangcheng, Wu Dongcheng of the Three Kingdoms, Wang Duncheng, Song Cheng and Ming City. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, there was a fierce battle in Wuhu, and "the old city was destroyed by soldiers". The reborn ancient city combines western architectural styles, such as Zhaijiayuan in Xiaojiaxiang and Yufu in Taiping Road. Modern western architecture and Huizhou ancient city in Ming and Qing dynasties have become the most precious historical heritage of Wuhu.
