When People's Republic of China (PRC) was founded, the northeast was the center of heavy industry in China. During the Republic of China, a large number of industries were accumulated in Northeast China. When New China was founded, the industrial share of the three northeastern provinces accounted for more than half of the country. However, in recent years, the development of Northeast China is not optimistic, and it is gradually declining. Here is a brief analysis of the reasons for the decline in Northeast China.

I. International environment. After the founding of New China, relations with the Soviet Union broke down. At that time, the northeast was threatened by the Soviet Union and the Korean Peninsula with American troops. This * * * country has almost no industrial property rights, and it is unsafe to be exposed to the eyes of the United States and the Soviet Union all day. Later, in order to cope with the possible Sino-Soviet war, the government introduced the "big third line" policy and transferred many industries to the central and western regions. From the breakdown of Sino-Soviet relations to the disintegration of the Soviet Union and before the end of the Cold War, China did not dare to focus on the Northeast.

Second, the geographical environment. The southeast region is close to the ocean and suitable for foreign trade. And the temperature is suitable, not as cold as in the northeast. Northeast China is closed, lacking high-quality seaports and having a cold climate. In the north, it is the harsh and sparsely populated Far East of Siberia, in the east, it lacks high-quality seaports and ice-free ports, and in the west, it is sparsely populated, poor and backward Outer Mongolia. If the northeast wants to develop, it has to go south. Many people have fled the northeast and moved to all parts of the country.

Third, there is a shortage of talents. Due to climate, geographical isolation, national policies and other reasons, the Northeast cannot retain capital and talents, and even ordinary people have fled the Northeast. In recent years, the population in Northeast China has been a net outflow. Without talents and capital, industry and commerce can't do well. On the other hand, industry and commerce can't do well, talents and capital can't be retained, and they fall into a vicious circle.

Fourth, national policies. Due to the lack of geographical environment, climate and talents in the northeast, the state gives good policies to the southern coastal areas. Through the development of the eastern coastal areas, the development of the central and western regions will be promoted, and the first rich will drive the later rich, and finally achieve the same prosperity. Northeast China is not the focus of national economic strategy.
