Yuexi County, which belongs to Anqing City, Anhui Province, is located in the hinterland of Dabie Mountain, southwest of Anhui Province and west of Anqing City. It is connected to Qianshan City in the east, Yingshan County in Hubei Province in the west, Taihu County in the south, Shucheng County and Huoshan County in the north.

Yuexi county belongs to four counties in history. Huoshan County and Shucheng County are in the north of the multi-cluster mountains extending from Dabie Mountain, while Qianshan County and Taihu County are in the south. In ancient times, these four counties all belonged to the legendary Yangzhou territory of Gong Yu.
