Fuzhou has a long history of planting banyan trees. In the Qing Dynasty, Guo Baicang's Fujian Records recorded that "the wild mountain is an old banyan tree, which was passed down as a thing of the Han Dynasty", and the wild mountain is near Damiao Mountain in Taijiang, Fuzhou. According to historical records, from 904 AD, when Wang was the king of Fujian, he began to plant banyan trees. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Fuzhou was covered with trees.

According to the data, there are more than 20 species of banyan 120 in China, 25 species in Fujian province, more than 60,000 banyan 1000 in Fuzhou, more than 0,000 ancient banyan1000, and 23 first-class ancient banyan trees (more than 300 years old). Among more than 660 large and small cities in China, Fuzhou is the only city famous for its banyan trees, ranking first in the country. Fuzhou is well-deserved to build a "banyan capital" with banyan trees.
