During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were many competing schools. There are ten main generalizations in Yiwenzhi, namely:

(1) Confucianism takes the six arts as the law, and advocates "rites and music" and "benevolence", "loyalty and forgiveness" and "impartial moderation", and "rule by virtue" and "benevolent government".

(2) Taoism, based on Laozi's "Tao" theory at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, uses "Tao" to explain the essence, origin, composition and transformation of all things in the universe, and advocates that Tao is natural and goes with the flow.

(3) Mohism is based on the theory of "loving each other and bringing out the best in each other".

Legalists, advocating the rule of law, "don't be intimate, don't be extremely noble and divorced from the law", so they are called legalists.

(5) The reason why famous artists are called famous artists by later generations is that they take debating names (names and concepts) and facts (facts and reality) as their main learning activities.

(6) Yin-Yang school, named after advocating the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements and using it to explain social personnel.

(7) The strategist was an adviser engaged in political and diplomatic activities during the Warring States Period, when China lobbied the vassals with the strategy of uniting Lian Heng.

(8) Miscellaneous, comprehensive research at the end of the Warring States period
