How did Qin Shihuang die?
There are many accounts about the death of Qin Shihuang in Historical Records, which can be found in Biography of Qin Shihuang, Biography of Li Si and Biography of Meng Tian. It seems that the cause of death is clear and beyond doubt. However, if we read these articles carefully, we can find some intriguing places. In the thirty-seventh year of the first emperor (2 10 BC), Qin Shihuang made his fifth patrol, mainly in Yunmeng and Hejian, with Li Si, Hu Hai, Zhao Gao and Meng Yi on the Qing Dynasty among his entourage. Meng Yi was Meng Tian's younger brother and a close confidant of the emperor, but Qin Shihuang was seriously ill on the way, and Meng Yi was sent to "pray for mountains and rivers". This seems to be Zhao Gao's plan. Because Meng Tian led the troops to garrison Shang Jun with his son Fu Su, he sent Meng Yi away from Qin Shihuang, removing Fu Su's eyes and ears; In addition, Zhao Gao was convicted by Meng Qian and sentenced to death. Later, due to the pardon of Qin Shihuang, Zhao Gaocai was restored to his official position. Zhao Gao hated Meng Zhi's guts and wanted to destroy the Montessori family. Zhao Gao is a eunuch, specializing in imperial cars, seal script and ink script. This Qin Shihuang military parade is naturally indispensable to CRRC government affairs. Later, Zhao Gao also "did Fu's thing" and was in charge of the vouchers "Fu" and "Xi" that conveyed the emperor's orders and dispatched troops. Of course, Zhao Gao is close behind. Qin Shihuang's trip was tiring all the way, and he fell ill in Pingyuan and Tianjin. Zhao Gao was ordered to write a suicide note to Fu Su, the eldest son of Qin Shihuang who was ordered to supervise the army Hetao: "I will be buried with Xianyang." Before the letter was sent away, Qin Shihuang went to the palace in the sand dunes (now Guangzong County, Hebei Province). In order not to spread the news of Qin Shihuang's death and make trouble, Prime Minister Reese did not attend the funeral, but carried the body to the car and the food was served as usual. He ordered the motorcade to hurry, and asked Zhao Gao to send someone to send the testamentary edict of Qin Shihuang to Fu Su as soon as possible. Zhao Gao didn't want Fu Su to succeed him. Because Fu Su is a decent man, he simply looks down on Zhao Gao who flatters him. Hu Hai, the son of Qin Shihuang, was a fatuous guy, and Zhao Gao was also ordered to teach Hu Hai to study law. They both happen to have the same taste. In order to realize his plot to usurp power and chaos, Zhao Gao wanted to make Hu Hai emperor, so he disobeyed Qin Shihuang's orders and refused to deliver letters. By persuading Hu Hai to threaten Reese, the three conspired to forge the imperial edict of Qin Shihuang, and Hu Hai succeeded to the throne. At the same time, in the name of Qin Shihuang, he accused Fu Su of being unfilial and Meng Tian of being unfaithful, and told them to commit suicide immediately if they disobeyed. After receiving the imperial edict, Fu Su committed suicide in tears. Meng Tian didn't want to commit suicide in such a muddle. He said, "The Emperor is on a cruise outside and ordered me to lead 300,000 troops to guard the border. This is an important task in the world. How could he commit suicide as soon as he saw the messenger? Who knows if there is any fraud? " Let the messenger take him up and put him in prison. Hu Hai, Zhao Gao and Reese heard that Fu Su committed suicide and ordered the motorcade to travel day and night and return to Xianyang quickly. In order to continue to deceive our subjects, we did not take a shortcut back to Xianyang, but assumed the posture of continuing to cruise, from sand dunes to Jingxing, and then to Taiyuan, and returned to Xianyang through a straight road, bypassing three or four dry roads. Due to the high temperature in summer, Qin Shihuang's body has rotted and stinked. In order to hide people's eyes and ears, I bought a lot of fish and put them on all the cars to confuse people. After arriving in Xianyang, they immediately spread the news of Qin Shihuang's death and sent people for a funeral. Then, Hu Hai became the emperor of Qin Ershi. Zhao Gao was promoted to corps commander, while Reese remained prime minister. After Zhao Gao succeeded in his plot, he became arrogant. He slandered Qin Ershi, framed the Montessori brothers and killed his son; Set a trap and gradually push Reese to the wall. When Reese discovered Zhao Gao's plot, he wrote to report Zhao Gao. Qin Ershi not only favored Zhao Gao, but also sentenced Reese to prison, and finally beheaded Reese in Xianyang. From the above steps of Zhao Gao's usurpation of power and chaos, we can see that Zhao Gao is a sinister and diabolical person. Therefore, people have to suspect that the death of Qin Shihuang was related to Zhao Gao. According to the records of historians, Qin Shihuang suffered from diseases from childhood-peak in accuracy (saddle nose). Birds are fake (chicken breasts), both of which are congenital or developmental diseases, and snoring (bronchitis), so they are weak. He leads a dissolute life and is headstrong, so he has to decide everything himself. Reading documents every day is 120 Jin, which is extremely tiring; During the cruise, the high temperature in July, coupled with the above factors, prompted him to get sick on the way, but it is still doubtful whether Qin Shihuang died of it. Guo Moruo once wrote a historical novel "The Death of Qin Shihuang". The book describes that when Qin Shihuang crossed the Yellow River in the plain, he had a seizure, and the back of his skull hit a bronze ice guide, which aggravated the condition of meningitis and made people unconscious. When the car arrived at the sand dune, it spent the night. The next day, Zhao Gao and Reese found that Qin Shihuang was dead, with black blood in his right ear and an inch-long nail in his right ear hole. This novel reflects the long-standing suspicion that Qin Shihuang's death was abnormal. As for the murderer, who is it? Hu Hai is considered in the novel. In fact, Zhao Gao is more likely to kill people than Hu Hai, because both the imperial edict and the decree are in Zhao's hands, and the decision to inherit the throne is also in his and Reese's hands. And even if Hu Hai killed his father, without the cooperation of Zhao Gao and Reese, he would not only get the throne, but would be killed. Moreover, Zhao Gao often guards the emperor's side, taking the opportunity to act without showing any trace, which is much more convenient than Hu Hai. If you want to ask Zhao Gao why he murdered Qin Shihuang? The answer is that Zhao Gao is afraid of Fu Su's succession. As mentioned above, he told Reese: "The eldest son is resolute and brave, and he believes in people bravely. When he acceded to the throne, he rarely used Meng Tian as the prime minister. " And Zhao Gao hates Meng Tian and Meng Yi, how can he tolerate Montessori's respect? Therefore, the industry must stop Fusu from being pushed around. However, Qin Shihuang was headstrong and was by no means effective. Only by ending the tyrant's life can we keep the 18th son, Hu Hai. Qin Shihuang usually lives in the deep palace, and the security is tight, so he can't do it. Now he is ill during the trip, which is a godsend. As Zhao Gao said to Hu Hai, "If you doubt and hesitate, you will regret it, but if you dare to do it, ghosts and gods will avoid it, and then you will succeed." So it is entirely possible that he boldly killed Qin Shihuang, who was seriously ill, and let him end his life ahead of schedule. So, does Zhao Gao dare to do such a regicide? His words and deeds have given the best answer. He told Hu Hai, "I heard that Tang Wu killed him.
