In 28-25 BC, the last king of Yelang "Xing" mobilized his troops to fight with the surrounding governors, and the Han officials only sent messengers to persuade him to surrender. But Yelang Wang Xing didn't buy it and killed the messenger, so the Han Dynasty sent troops to destroy Yelang. Yelang country withdrew from the historical stage. Because of its name, many places are now vying to say that they are the homeland of Yelang ancient country, which makes this problem foggy.
The first is "Guizhou Theory". People who hold this view believe that Yelang Kingdom is undoubtedly in Guizhou now. The Book of the Later Han Dynasty recorded the emergence of Yelang Kingdom: "Yelang people, at the beginning, had a woman drinking water every month, and three bamboos flowed into their feet. As soon as they heard that there was a bugle, they cut down the bamboo and found someone to raise it. " Ancient Yelang people took bamboo as their totem, and there were many bamboos in Guizhou. Nowadays, the Gelao, Yi, Buyi and other ethnic minorities all have the custom of worshipping bamboo as a god, and many places have built "bamboo king shrines". Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, is called "bamboo" for short, which is also the evolution of "bamboo". Judging from archaeological excavations, Guizhou also has a lot of evidence. After the founding of New China, Yelang cultural relics were continuously discovered in Guizhou. Archaeologists have unearthed cultural relics from more than 200 tombs of Yelang country in Hezhang nine times, which is enough to support the conclusion that this place was once one of the residential centers of Yelang people.
Secondly, "Hunan Theory" holds that Yelang culture recorded in historical books has a strong flavor of Chu culture, and its capital should be in Chu, and puts forward that the western part of Huaihua belongs to Yelang's birthplace, and Xinhuang County is the core area of Yelang country.
People who hold the "Hunan Theory" believe that their views do not deny that Yelang State also includes a part of Guizhou, but the core and origin of Yelang State is in Xiangxi, Hunan Province, where the current folk customs also have the shadow of Yelang State. Others think that the center of Yelang Kingdom is in Sichuan and Yunnan. Where is the ancient Yelang Kingdom? It is still an unsolved mystery.
