Rose Camp is an ancient market town with a history of 100 years. During the Qing Dynasty, Rose Camp had fertile land, beautiful aquatic plants and flat terrain. There is a low-lying land with lush reeds. At that time, people called Rose Camp Village "Lucao Steamed Bun". In the 10th year of Guangxu reign (1884), when Ba Qixian (Belgian), Bishop of Mongolian diocese in China, visited the western countries to teach politics, he saw the lush aquatic plants and vast territory here, and sent Father Liu Zhenlin (Belgian), who was in front of Nanhaoqian (now shangyi county, Hebei Province), to build a church here to promote missionary work.
In Guangxu 13 (1887), Liu Zhenlin went to Lucaobaozi village to build a "holy earth church" (a Catholic church with civil structure) and served as the priest of this church. At that time, there were only 7 households with about 30 people in Lucaobaozi Village, mainly making a living as nomads. In the 25th year of Guangxu (1899), Bishop Francis (Belgian) of Mongolian diocese (now Chayouqianqi) sent a priest Feng (Belgian) to assist Liu Zhenlin to work in Lucaobaozi village, and in the 30th year of Guangxu (1904), a large-scale Catholic church was built in Lucaobaozi village. In the thirty-third year of Guangxu (1907), the Catholic church was expanded. The expanded Catholic Church has a herringbone frame structure, all made of blue bricks and covered with iron tiles, covering an area of about 300 square meters. With the Catholic Church as the center, more than 500 attached houses, such as monasteries and buddhist nun, have been established one after another, making it the largest Catholic Church in North China. "Reed grass is spreading" was renamed "Rose Camp Village" according to the Catholic Book of Roses.
