There is an antique commercial street in Wuxi, modeled after Nanchang Street. Unexpectedly, it was very deserted.
Speaking of the most popular ancient commercial street in Wuxi, we have to mention "Nanchang Street". Nanchang Street is located in the most prosperous area of Liangxi District, Wuxi City, next to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The popularity of Nanchang Street is inseparable from the culture and scenery here. The nanzenji, ancient buildings and ancient canals in Nanchang Street are rich in cultural heritage, and their landscape is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River.

In addition to Nanchang Street, there is another street in Wuxi that was also built on the basis of temples. It is "Xianyun Street", located in the lakeside area of Wuxi, about nine kilometers away from Nanchang Street. Xianyun Street is not well-known and the street is not too long, but its street name sounds particularly charming. I don't know, but I thought it was an ancient street with a history of thousands of years.

For Wuxi locals, few people know this street. Xianyun Street is an antique commercial street built by imitating the combination of temple fairs and commercial streets in Nanchang Street. Its cultural support lies in the Xianyun Temple here, and the street name is also named after Xianyun Temple. When it comes to Xianyun Temple, few people believe that they know it, and there are not many historical records about it.

Xianyun Temple, formerly known as Huayun Temple, was built by Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, in memory of General Huayun, a pioneer officer. It has a long history of more than 500 years. However, the historical Xianyun Temple has long since ceased to exist. The temple we see today was rebuilt in 2008. It was built on the basis of historical records and combined with the characteristics of local temples.

Xianyun Street is located on the street opposite Xianyun Temple. When you meet the temple, you will reach the street. The whole commercial street is square, covering an area of about 15 mu, in which the main street is about 100 meters long.

After the completion of Xianyun Street, it seems that it is not as crowded as expected, but rather a relatively deserted appearance, which may be related to the location here. After all, it is far from Wuxi's core tourist attractions.

If you have been to Nanchang Street before, you must have experienced the crowded scene of Nanchang Street. Walking into Xianyun Street is like walking into an ancient temple, giving people a very lonely and quiet feeling. The buildings in the whole street are antique buildings, and the buildings with white walls and gray tiles are particularly antique against the background of night, but they are still not as antique as Nanchang Street.

There are three covered bridges over the street. The covered bridge is made of wood, and there are steps at both ends to reach the bridge. There are various restaurants on both sides, such as teahouses, specialty snacks and Wan Wen shops. If it is summer, you can eat it on both sides of the street.

Impressively, there is even a stage in Xianyun Street, just like the ancient stage where a large family was frolicking. Sitting in front of the stage, chatting is also very comfortable, but the popularity is not very prosperous now, I don't know what will happen in the future.

I don't know. Have you ever been to or heard of "Xianyun Street" in Wuxi? What's your impression of this antique commercial street? Would you eat here if you had the chance? Welcome to leave a comment.
