Creation background

The creation of Eight Dragons began at 1963 and took four years to complete (some of them were written by Ni Kuang). The story is set in the era of Song Zhezong. Jin Yong said in the "explanation of names" section before the book Eight Dragons: "The story of this book took place in Yuan You and Shaosheng years in northern Song Zhezong, around AD 1094."

Historical figures and events are fabricated and transformed in books. When Jin Yong wrote the Eight Branches of the Dragon, he had a new ideological understanding and a new way to deal with ethnic contradictions and conflicts between ethnic countries, that is, he was no longer confined to narrow nationalism and patriotism, but sublimated to the consideration of the overall interests of the Chinese nation, preferring pacifism and national harmony and unity, thus transcending narrow ethnic contradictions and having new thoughts on war and peace.
