After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, why are the fates of Kazakhstan and Ukraine so different?
Kazakhstan has always advocated active diplomacy, handling international relations while stabilizing its internal contradictions, and achieving "internal and external repair." Ukraine has been clamoring for "independence", which has led to the failure of diplomacy and internal affairs. In order to get rid of Russian control and harsh western conditions to a certain extent, another important object of Kazakhstan's diplomacy is its eastern neighbor China. An important aspect of developing friendly relations between China and Kazakhstan is energy cooperation. Kazakhstan's rich oil and gas resources can just alleviate China's urgent needs.

Before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Ukraine was one of the best energy pillars of Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and in theory Ukraine was relatively dominant. Now, the two countries have been independent for 27 years. We can look back on the achievements made by the two countries in these 27 years: Ukraine was caught in the geopolitical dispute between NATO and Russia, and the domestic pro-Western faction and pro-Russian faction were incompatible, which eventually led to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in Crimea, with a per capita GDP of less than 4,000 US dollars.

Multi-ethnic Kazakhstan, which is also at the forefront of the great power game, not only has domestic political stability, harmonious ethnic relations and sustained economic growth (per capita GDP of 8838 US dollars), but also has become the anchor of stability and the de facto leader of Central Asia. Before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Ukraine claimed to be "the most complete industrial layout in the Soviet Union". Before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Ukraine created 25% of the total GDP of the whole Soviet Union with about 3% of its territory.

1992 when we first became independent, many Ukrainians were full of expectations for the future. Local media people once told reporters that Ukraine could rise rapidly at that time. The conflict of civil war is the peaceful evolution of the west to Ukraine. Some Ukrainians hope to learn from the western political system and throw themselves at the west, but in the end they are reduced to a situation where their families are ruined and their people are in poverty. The "freedom" that Ukraine now advocates has caused 6 million refugees.
