Liu Huhe, formerly known as Hulu River, was called Qi Yishui in ancient times. The total length is about 125 km, and the drainage area is about 4298 square kilometers, so it is called Yuxian Mother River.
General situation of Liuhu River
As the name implies, Liuhuhe is named after its shape like a pot. On both sides of the river, the upper riverbed is wide and the lower riverbed is narrow, shaped like a pot. "Yuanhe County Records" records: "The river is narrow and wide, like a gourd." Therefore, Hulu River was renamed Liuhu River in Qing Dynasty.
Liu Hu originated in Shaquan, Wang Hu Village, Guangling County, Shanxi Province at the northern foot of Hengshan Mountain, about15km away from the county seat, flowed into Yuxian from Sujiatuan Village in the south of hot springs in Yuxian County, and crossed most parts of Yuxian County from west to east. The river is about 73 kilometers long. It flows out of Yuxian County from the west of North Ma Quan Village, then enters Yangyuan County from the west of Yuxian County, and then flows into Xiaodukou Village.
Ecological environment protection in Liu Hu
Liuhu, which spans two provinces and three counties, is an important strategic water source in Zhangjiakou area.
In the past, in summer, the water of Liuhu River soared and floods often occurred, which brought trouble to people near the lower reaches of the river. The government began to build a reservoir in the middle reaches of the river on 197 1 and completed it on 1974, which completely eliminated the flood.
Historically, the soil near Liuhu River was fertile, and the fields irrigated by people nearby were all water from Liuhu River. On both sides of Liu Hu, willows sway, and wild ducks and all kinds of waterfowl pheasants live here. There are many kinds of fish living in the river, and many shellfish and snails crawl on the dam-break rocks.
20 17 years ago, tourism was vigorously developed here, and houses and amusement facilities were built in Huliuhe Reservoir. After the water level of Tiger River dropped, people nearby reclaimed wasteland on the riverbed, and people killed wild animals, which greatly destroyed the ecological environment of the river.
In recent years, the ecological restoration and protection project of Huliuhe Wetland in Yuxian County, Hebei Province has been started to build Huliuhe Wetland Park. From August 20 17 to March 2, 20 19, measures were taken to stop tourism, such as pollution interception and pollution control, river dredging and river environmental landscape transformation. Seven bird habitats, two wildlife rescue centers and four artificial release stations have been built to protect wildlife habitats and severely crack down on criminals who kill wildlife.
Current Huliuhe Reservoir
Now the scenery of Huliuhe Reservoir is harmonious and quiet, and the reservoir has been restored to its original appearance. There are willows on the shore, reeds everywhere, and waterfowl sing and shuttle among the reeds. The water quality of Huliuhe Reservoir is getting better and better, attracting crowds of white swans this year. Huliuhe Reservoir now has no noise in the past, restored its original ecological environment, and is a paradise for wild animals.
Yuxian is an arid area, and droughts often occur in spring. Liu Hu flows through Yuxian County, and meets the springs all over Yuxian County. She has nourished Yuxian land for thousands of years, so in Yuxian people's hearts, it is our mother river.
The scenery of Liuhuhe Reservoir is very beautiful. People will come here to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery in their spare time. However, I think the most beautiful scenery of Liuhu River is at night. The flaming sunset glow sets off the sky and the whole river, which is very spectacular.
The ancients wrote "the pot flows in spring": the pot flows in spring, warm waves, dancing, rushing, and melting on both sides, which is spectacular. In particular, it winds through the two cliffs of Yuanyang Station, where water and rocks collide and the waves are rough, which is a thousand miles a day. Now there is no such spectacular sight as that written by the ancients.
Liuhu River is our beautiful mother river, and we have the responsibility to protect its ecological environment and rely on it.
