Famous historical figures in Yancheng are Lu Xiufu and Lu Xiufu (1236- 1279), whose names are Jun Shi and Yan Weng, alias Dongjiang, and Changjianli from Yancheng, Chuzhou (now Jianyang Town, jianhu county, Jiangsu Province). Left Prime Minister in the Southern Song Dynasty, a famous minister against Yuan Dynasty, and Wen Tianxiang and Zhang Shijie were also called "three outstanding men in the late Song Dynasty". After losing the battle of Yashan, he went to sea with Wang Wei Zhao Min, and died at the age of 44.

When Lu Xiufu was three years old, his father moved his family to Zhenjiang. When I was a little older, I studied with two teachers Meng in my hometown. Teacher Meng often has more than 100 students, but he simply pointed to Lu Xiufu and said, "This little guy is not ordinary." In the first year of Ding Jing (A.D. 1260), he was admitted to Jinshi. When Li Tingzhi was guarding Huainan, he heard about Lu Xiufu and sent him to his own shogunate. At that time, Li Tingzhi in Huainan was named as a "small court" and was regarded as the most talented person in the world.
