Qianjiang City is a county-level city directly under the central government of Hubei Province, located in the south-central part of Hubei Province and the hinterland of Jianghan Plain, with a humid climate of north subtropical monsoon. Qianjiang City, a corner of Yunmengze in ancient times, was gradually formed through the compound alluvial of river water and the slow deposition of lake water. Qianjiang area belonged to Jingzhou area in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (around the 5th century), towns such as Zhanghuatai and Jingling appeared in the hills in the south of the county and the plains in the north, belonging to Chu among the vassal states.
