There is a local saying about the formation of these two mountains, which is related to the legend that "Erlang God climbed the mountain to catch the sun". According to legend, there were 12 suns in the ancient sky, which was very hot and made people miserable. Once, Erlang's mother was fainted by the sun on the way to deliver food to Erlang. Erlang is very filial and powerful. He decided to use a mountain to hold down 12 suns, so he began to chase the sun day and night, and when he caught up with one, he held down another. In the end, only one Sun escaped to the East China Sea, and the others were pinned down by him. And the two mountains near the mountain where Erlang God carried the mountain could not be carried, so they stayed here. Now, each of these two mountains has a naturally formed cave, which everyone calls "the eye of the pole".
0 1 Monuments at the foot of the mountain
Linshan used to be a famous Buddhist shrine in China, and now there are still a large number of Buddhist cultural relics and remains here. Manju, located at the foot of Lindong Mountain, was built in the late Tang Dynasty and was destroyed by the war. It was rebuilt in the Song Dynasty, and it was repaired in previous dynasties.
The ancient temple faces south, built on the mountain, and the levels are scattered. There are giant stone turtles carved under the stone steps in front of the temple, stone lions in front of the temple, and male and female cypresses in the courtyard. These cultural relics prove to us the splendor of this ancient temple.
Tallinn and Manguji, west of Manguji, are more famous than Manguji. It belongs to the national key cultural relics protection unit. Manguji Tallinn is a group of tombs and pagodas where eminent monks were buried in Manjuji. It was built in the late Tang Dynasty. According to legend, Prince Tianshou of the later Tang Dynasty once shaved his head in Manjuji, Linshan, and his name was Yuan Ze. Yuan Ze, the master, was buried here after his death, so Tallinn is also called "Pagoda Group of Prince's Tomb".
Tallinn and Manjuji are divided into two relatively concentrated blocks, one on the roadside and the other on the slope. There are 26 original masonry towers here. Due to natural damage, there are 2 existing brick towers 12, 4 remaining stone towers, 2 underground brick towers, ancient wells 1 mouth, and collapsed brick towers 1 seat.
Each tower faces south, with a single-story and single-eave imitation wood structure, a pyramid-shaped roof, a lotus petal pagoda on the eaves and a hexagonal plane. Some towers have well-preserved inscriptions, which is the most powerful evidence of the history of these ancient pagodas.
No.02 Shangshan Road
Enter the temple from the main entrance of Manzuji, and follow the path outside the wall of Manzuji eastward to Lindong. From a distance, you can see an abandoned building, which is a cableway used to lift building materials on the mountain.
After a period of "bamboo fence pavilion" with strong Jiangnan flavor, we came to Lindong. Compared with Xilin Mountain written in the last article, Lin Dongshan is obviously much better, and at least there is a clear road.
The road is paved with stones in this way. I wonder if there are many people walking. These stones, which were originally here, became obvious roads or were paved by special people. In a word, although this path is hidden in the bushes, it is very clear.
On a flat land halfway up the mountain, there is an abrupt boulder protruding, which is the "Stone Buddha Temple on the Mountain". In the last article, I specially introduced three Buddhist temples in Xilin Mountain. The fourth one, located in Lindong, is the least of the four Buddhist temples, with only 130 Buddha statues. This Buddhist temple was built in the Ming Dynasty, and its internal situation is very similar to the other three. You can go and have a look if you are interested.
Walk past the Buddhist temple and continue on the road along the stone road. The road here is obviously paved by people, and there are two flags hanging on both sides of the road.
Along this road, you will come to the highest peak of Lindong in the fluttering flags. Looking back at the foot of the mountain, all the peaks are under your eyes.
03 hilltop scenery
There is an oval stone on the top of the mountain. It lies strangely on a bigger stone with many small sticks under it. These are all left by people who came here before. This is to pray for my strong waist and good health. I also set up one conveniently. Do as the Romans do.
A pavilion was built on the highest peak of Lindong. The roof is covered with golden glazed tiles, and the inside is made of wood structure, which is dome-shaped layer by layer.
Colored prayer flags are hung on the cornice at the top of the pavilion. Lindong is a famous Buddhist mountain, so there is still the custom of hanging prayer flags here. People hang prayer flags where the wind blows to pray for peace, eliminate disasters and pray.
The scenery of the back mountain
On the east side of the pavilion, there is a path leading to the back of the mountain Go straight along the path and you will reach the back hill, which is the steepest part of Lindong.
Small white flowers like Xilin Mountain also grow in the crevices of Lindong. Every time I see them, I will sigh the tenacity of vitality.
Turning to the back of the mountain, you will see the trestle bridge between the two cliffs. The bridge is made of angle steel and covered with a layer of wood. It looks a few years old, but it is very strong and doesn't feel trembling.
There is a huge stone pile on the north side of the bridge, and his companions are running around on it. At the age of knowing his destiny, he is as happy as a child. Isn't it a happy thing to run unscrupulously in nature in front of people who love nature?
Walking through this trestle, there is a bridge similar to him in front, which is also built on two cliffs, and several bridge slabs have fallen off. My companion actually sat on the boulder on the south side of the bridge and looked at his mobile phone. There is an abyss at his feet. When I was sitting on this side of the bridge, I sweated for him, but he still sat there calmly.
Continue downhill along these steel stairs. These stairs look much stronger than the trestle just now, but they should have been built at the same time.
Seeing this huge boulder, his companion became interested again and climbed to the top of the cliff step by step with his bare hands. Once again, in front of mother nature, he seems to suddenly become that restless child, and nature is the source of his happiness.
My partner and I sat on the top of a cliff and looked at him. We were in danger under his lens, but we didn't know it when we sat on it.
Walking halfway up the mountain and looking up at the top of the mountain, you can really see the danger of the trestle. It must have cost a lot of money to build these trestles and stairs.
The grotesque rocks on the top of the mountain are like countless sharp claws pushing us at the foot of the mountain, producing different pictures from different angles.
05 tourism sentiment
Compared with the original undeveloped state of Xilin Mountain, Lindongshan was obviously built by someone, so with the stone road in front of the mountain, the pavilion at the foot of the mountain and the top of the mountain, the trestle and steps of the back mountain, we can also see the steeper scenery of the back mountain. Because it is easy to climb mountains, there are more tourists here than Xilin Mountain, but it is not necessarily a good thing to have more tourists. The rubbish and graffiti everywhere are really a bit wasted.
Liu Yuxi said: "The mountain is not high, but the fairy is famous. The water is not deep, and the dragon has spirit. " Forest Mountain is the "immortal" Lingshan in the hearts of local people. Once upon a time, several surrounding villages took turns to protect the Buddha statues on these mountains. They thought that these Buddha statues would bless the harvest of several surrounding villages, but it was strange that when it was the turn of the village to protect it, which village really had a good year! This is the "fairy" of Linshan!
