The ancestors of Dafeng people have been engaged in salt making. Salt people are the most bitter class among the working people, oppressed by the government and exploited by salt merchants. "There are many rafters, so you can't have a full meal without shelter from the wind and rain", "burning and smoking, unkempt appearance" and "the famine is particularly unbearable" (see Jiajing's Records of Salt Law in Huaibei and Huaihe). Such an inhuman life leads them to have a strong rebellious character. In the 25th year of Kangxi (1686), Kong, the author of Peach Blossom Fan, supervised the work of Xituan during the flood fighting in Huaiyang, and wrote Xituan Ji, which described the people's feelings here: "Residents make a living by cooking salt and fishing, but they are addicted to fighting for national tax". This rebellious character was clearly reflected in the Yan Min Uprising led by Zhang Shicheng in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. In the 13th year of Yuan Zhizheng (1353), Zhang Shicheng Brothers and others 18 Yanmin started a business in Shili Temple beside the Paitou River. After 14 years' campaign, it gained more than 2,000 miles of territory in Fiona Fang, covering Hangzhou in the south, Shandong in the north, Anhui in the west and the sea in the east. According to Pingjiang (Suzhou), it is the king, with the title of Zhou. Although Zhang Shicheng once bowed to the Yuan government and was finally destroyed by Zhu Yuanzhang, it opened the first voice of the salt people along the coast of China against feudal oppression, weakened the reactionary rule of the Yuan government and led to regime change. Its achievements are still indelible.

In War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, the people in Dafeng area, under the leadership of the China Production Party, made great contributions to the victory of the new-democratic revolution through arduous struggles. War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression sacrificed 504 martyrs, the Liberation War 1.227, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea honored 89 martyrs.

In the early years of the Republic of China, Zhang Jian came here and set up a salt reclamation company to abandon stoves and promote reclamation, recruit poor farmers to reclaim wasteland and plant cotton. Among them, Haimen people are the most. In production activities, local people and Haimen people get along well, learn from each other, learn from each other's strengths, and promote the development of Dafeng's productive forces. In production, the local people have the spirit of hard work, but the farming is extensive and the production tools are backward. Haimen people have developed the habit of intensive cultivation because their hometown is vast and sparsely populated. Before the arrival of Haimen people, a small amount of cotton was also planted in the west of Dafeng. The planting method is to scatter cotton seeds on the land with heavy salt, which is not suitable for growing grain, wait until the rain soaks through the cotton seeds and sticks to the soil before they emerge, and then weeding is enough. Haimen people, on the other hand, adopt the method of drilling on demand, and have a set of management measures such as thinning seedlings, fertilization, pruning and coring after emergence, so the yield per mu of cotton has been greatly improved. Haimen people's cotton planting technology was quickly accepted and applied by local people. Another example is the tools brought by Haimen, such as bowls, shovels and iron. Reasonable design, convenient use and rapid popularization in agricultural areas. In character, the local people are loyal and honest, and their interpersonal relationships are loose. Haimen people are lively and cheerful, and pay attention to mutual unity. In life, the locals are frugal and simple, but they are not good at diversified business; Haimen people, on the other hand, are willing to spend money and are good at making money. These respective fine traditions influence and penetrate each other, forming the unique character and style of Dafeng people.

In 1950s and early 1960s, Dafeng County had a good social atmosphere and people lived and worked in peace and contentment. During the "Cultural Revolution", influenced by the "Left", interpersonal relationships were once tense and factional struggles occurred from time to time. After Jiang Qing's counter-revolutionary clique was crushed, the social order tended to be stable by bringing order out of chaos and cleaning up its roots. 1982, the central government issued instructions to carry out the "five stresses and four beauties" activities, and stipulated that March every year was "National Civilization and Politeness Month". After several years of hard work, the social atmosphere has gradually improved. However, during this period, a few lawless elements took advantage of the country's reform and opening up to engage in criminal activities. From 65438 to 0983, the county launched a campaign against criminal activities. After three battles, more than one theft gang 10 was destroyed, and the excellent situation of stability and unity was consolidated and developed. Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, a series of policies to enrich the people have been implemented, people's lives have been improved, and a new situation of exploring and pursuing rich spiritual life has emerged.
