I am an engineering college student. I want to have a comprehensive and objective understanding of the modern history of China. There is no other way but to read more books. The more you read, the richer the content and the wider the angle, and you will naturally form your own understanding. In fact, you don't have to recommend books. I suggest not to look directly at the original historical materials, but to read more research works by experts in modern history. The works are often cited and traced back, and many excellent works can be found, thus forming a broad and comprehensive understanding of modern history.
