In ancient times, people used to call Zhejiang Province Yue for short. In the Ming Dynasty, people in Zhejiang Province were called Yue people. In the Qing dynasty, when all provinces in China set up abbreviations, Zhejiang reported Yue, and later it was changed to Zhejiang. One of them is that Guangdong is called Guangdong for short, and the pronunciation is the same.
For example, during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement, the Qing Dynasty called the Taiping Army "Guangdong bandits". At that time, because Guangdong was widely recognized as "Guangdong" for short, Zhejiang had to give up using "Guangdong" and change it to "Zhejiang". Of course, Guangdong is only a medicine-taking factor, mainly because it is the "Yue" in history, including not only Zhejiang, but also most of Jiangsu, Anhui and Jiangxi today after Gou Jian destroyed Wu.
Therefore, the abbreviation "Yue" is not acceptable. If so, it includes Jiangsu, Anhui and other regions, while Jiangsu's "Su" only includes Jiangsu Province, and Anhui's "Anhui" only includes Anhui. Moreover, there was a regime like Fujian and Guangdong in history, which is today's Fujian area. Therefore, if Zhejiang Province is called "Guangdong" for short, then the area they cover is too large. Zhejiang province, referred to as "Zhejiang" for short, is actually related to this river in Zhejiang.
This river in Zhejiang is not very famous. It is divided into upper, middle and lower sections. The source of northern Zhejiang is Xin 'anjiang. After it joins Qujiang, the source of southern Zhejiang, the lower section is called Fuchun River, and the lower section is Qiantang River. Although Zhejiang is located in the northwest of Zhejiang Province, it is the most important river in Zhejiang Province. In the Tang Dynasty, Zhejiang was taken as the boundary, and the observation room in the west of Zhejiang and the observation ambassador in the east of Zhejiang were set up, so Zhejiang was very important to Zhejiang Province, so it was called "Zhejiang" for short.
